I do kinda see where you are coming from on this, However until all the worlds countries fall in line and stop pumping out crap into the air, I think it would be a slightly harsh line to ask people to limit the amount that they travel.

Aeroplane Engine Manufacturers are becoming more green with each new Engine line, Both in Green pollution and Noise Pollution.

Dont get me wrong, i am not some Anti Green knucklhead, it is just that there is a lot worst happening to the Enviroment then Jet Fumes.

You could go by a more environmentally friendly method of transport (i.e. than a plane). Don't know where you're based, but get a Eurostar over to Europe and train (or coach) around. Or go on a biking holiday nearer to home.

You can also offset your impact on the environment through the Carbon Neutral organisation who'll plant trees and stuff. Well worth a look. It says on the site that 'one single shorthaul flight produces roughly the same amount of the global warming gas as 3 months worth of driving a 1.4 litre car. And we're all flying more.'

You can also carbon neutral your office, but that's crazy talk.

If you don't have to cover vast expanses of water like the Atlantic or the Pacific, you could go by train. As far as I know, they are the most environmentally friendly kind of public transportation. Spain, for example, has an excellent railroad network and it's fun traveling that way. You'll see lots of beautiful landscape.

But if you have to fly, don't worry - if you as a single person choose not to use airplanes anymore it still won't prevent them from taking off ...

Flying is meant to have considerable environmental impact. If you are using other forms of transport it wouldn't be too bad I guess.
