I think, like any breed of dog, it's dependant on the way they are raised.

If a dog is taught and raised with love and praise, it will be more friendly than one who is abused and/or neglected.

They are a good 1 family dog. But, if you really want one of these dogs do your research. They are very, very difficult to contain in a yard. They were bred for the wilderness, and they still have that desire. We see so many in our animal control center here, where owners, well meaning owners, just can't keep them in a yard. They will climb, dig, or chew their way out. They like to roam. They are not the dog for everyone. See if there is a local rescue group that you can speak with regarding their special needs, so that you can intelligently decided if this is the dog for you.

my husky was very friendly but really do your homework before getting one, they need a lot of time and are beyond smart so you have to keep them busy or they will act out and i do mean act out just like a child would...but they are great dogs for the fam with time to care for them.

we had a malamut for almost 8 years before he died of a stroke earlier this year.

this dog refused to listen and would growl at you sometimes for no apparent reason. please do not get a dog like this if you have children as they will not be safe in your yard.

when we tried to teach the dog to be obedient he almost bit us. we could not teach the dog anything. he basically ran the show,

well i've only met very friendly malamutes and huskies. any breed can be aggressive though. so it's pretty impossible to lump any breed together like that.
