It's not really modern but its not old either,
'Have I told you Lately' by Van Morrison.
Its heart felt, and not really soppy, the chorus goes summin like this:
''Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one above you
You fill my heart with gladness
You take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles thats what you do
And at the end of the day
We'll give thanks and praise
To the one''
Its on his Albulm titled 'Avalon Sunset'

Right Here Waiting For You
Richard Marx
Oceans apart day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain
If I see you next to never
How can we say forever
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now
Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me going crazy
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
I wonder how we can survive
This romance
But in the end if I'm with you
I'll take the chance
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
Waiting for you

Have you considered the song "Sway" by the PussyCat Dolls (P.C.D.)? It's upbeat, modern with an old fashion jazzy style, and is can be a pretty hot number if choreographed right.

Broken Road by Rascal Flatts is something modern.....very nice song...it was our second choice when we got married. We danced to K-Ci & JoJo's "All My Life".

pick a song that means soemthing to you - me and bf sugguested Africa by Toto as that song means a lot to me - but he also wants the Neverending story - from the film - which I said no to!
Sit down with your fella and listen to your music collection until you find something you both like.

We are using Give Me Forever (I do). It is really sweet. Our second choice was going to be When I Said I Do by Clint Black and Lisa Hartman. It's a really good one too.

it truly is going to definately be a song that has large own and mawkish intending to the couple. otherwise, only google "Romantic songs." the first action picture my (now) spouse and that i discussed jointly changed into Moulin Rouge. Our first dance changed into come what might want to. i needed splendor and the Beast (we were given married at Disney, i'm 6'8" and he or she's brilliant :-p) however it were given voted down!
