Muhammad grew up worshipping many pagan gods in the Kabah including the moon, either called Hubal and Allah. After his conversion to monotheism, through the influence of Christians, Muhammad stopped worshiping the moon. The same is true for all Muslims since, down to the present day. However, the crescent moon is the universal symbol of Islam. Muslims will argue that there is no archeological evidence for the crescent moon symbol being used in Islam for the first few centuries after Muhammad. Yet Muslims also claim that Koran in its completed form existed in the time of Muhammad, yet there is no archeological evidence for this claim either. What we can be sure of, is the moon worship was more prevalent in Arabia than any other part of the world and that the symbol of the crescent moon has been used by the Arab religions as far back as the time of Abraham. It is a falsification of history to think there is no connection with the history of the crescent moon symbol of pagan moon god worship and Islam. The fact remains that most Arab/Muslim countries today still use the crescent moon symbol on their flags and atop of their mosques. The connection is so powerful that only the blind would reject any connection.

Thanks For Your Question

Well let me start by a small verse in the Quraan God says : "And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating."

Secondly what are you saying holds alot of misinformation

1. Muhammad never worshipped any pagan God infact he avoids them and goes to a small cave in the mountains to meditate God and that was before Islam (ask any historian he will tell you so)

2. There was no pagan God called Allah ...infact there was only one Goddess call Alaat and thats difftent plus the word Allah is used by the arabian christians and jews it is even written in the Arabic translated Bible becase it simply means "God"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allah

3. prophet Muhammad was not influenced by any christians ....if so why in the Quraan it says that Christians are misguided

4. prophet Muhammad didnt worship the moon nor any arabian person and if you have one single proof to this silly story please put it onver for a debate

5. The moon is not the universal symbol in Islam infact Islam has no sign not like the Christianity and the judiasm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam (see symbols in islam)

6. The Quraan was written in the time of Muhammed peace be upon him by his companions and it was collected all together and written in one book after prophet Muhamad died

Well it seems that most of your statemens are wrong so either you intend to misguide us all which is so mean to do or you didnt intend to do that which is sooo ignorant of you

read more kid and dont believe what you hear .....and dont bring a christian source to talk about the Islamic religion thats stupid (no offense)

I do not think i agree with you , though i am not a Muslim .. i think the one who used to worship the moon and then moved to the sun and so forth was Abraham , who at the end believed in one god and he had a number of reasons to go and worship god.. Muhamd as far as I know , grew up not worshiping any of the satuts at the kaaba , he grew up beliving in one god that is not any shape , he was following abrahm

as for the evidence we seek about the Koran, U need to read it to get to this answer .. and compare it other stuff you red and see what is more organized and complete and what is not ...

Jesus himself used the word "Elohim" to say "God". And apparently, Allah is taken from this word. The site you referred to, has no reliable sources, except for Islam haters. History proves that there's ALLAT which was a pagan god, and there's ALLAH which a translation for the word God.
IF you read the Arabic bible you'll find the word Allah used to describe God, but you never read the Arabic bible..

i'm a moslem. i'm no longer going to assert something against you because like something else of non moslems, you do not realize what Islam truly is. There are continuously violence in each and every faith. Crimes change into salvation contained in the call of religion. Jews killed Jesus, Christians wiped out Jews (undergo in options nazi, huh?). yet there are also dedicated those who truly stay their lives as a good believer. and that i count number on those human beings so i do not forget that this international remains a eye-catching position. undergo in options, faith is the trust you stay in, no longer of what you renowned. Peace be with you...

This is a great post and it's spot on it's the absolute truth. Muslims need to look in their heart and research their own religion deepy knowing the facts you need to become a real student. A loving God would never tell you bomb and kill people in hi name.

KNOW the truth and then convert to christianity we will be happy to accept you. Selah

are you teaching me about the God i am worshiping? ... moon God? right.

we worship the God who created you and created the Sun, moon, stars and everything exist.

u see moon on flags or mosques because it represent the month of Ramadan. month of Ramadan is the month we fast in, also the Quran came down on that month. we can tell the beginning of this month by looking at the shape of the moon.

Aren't you getting sick of this question? I mean, how many different times and ways can it be asked? The Abrahamic God was once a Pagan SkyGod too. Get over it you high and mighty fools.

So you know who is the God of Muslims more than Muslims themselves and want to teach them who is their God? I think this indicate a complex ignorane. The basics of Islamic believes are simple and even Muslim kids know that what you wrote is just incorrect, please provide valid references.
