The two most significant symptoms of depression are
Sadness or hopelessness.
Loss of interest in or pleasure from most daily activities.
Other symptoms include:
Losing or gaining weight because of changes in appetite.
Sleeping too much or not enough.
Feeling restless and unable to sit still, or feeling that moving takes a great effort.
Feeling tired all the time.
Feeling unworthy or guilty without an obvious reason.
Having problems concentrating, remembering, or making decisions.
Thinking often about death or suicide.
If you have at least five of these symptoms for 2 weeks or longer, and one of the symptoms is either sadness or loss of interest, you are diagnosed with major depression. But, if you have fewer than five symptoms, you may still be depressed and need treatment.

My guess is that at least YOU believe you have some ongoing depression. This guess is based on your concerns about being "moody" , your previous question about PMS and depression, and your aptly chosen name, "bluerain". As others have said, it is ok and "normal" to experience depression at times, we all do. It is only an issue if it is prolonged and/or interferes with your everyday functioning (work/school/social life). A healthy diet and exercises is always a good idea, however if you are experiencing depression that is "getting in the way" of living then you may need to seek professional assistance. Again. this is ok - sometimes you just need an objective party to talk to. (Someone who doesn't know you personally - so has no preconceptions, makes no judgments, and has knowledge in the mental health field.)

It might be, but there is a lot more informaiton that is needed. What else has changed in the time around when you started being moody? How is your diet and sleep pattern? In the summer, people get moody because they don't have enough sleep.
A doctor would probably be better prepared to talk about this and find a solution.

It can be a sign, but there are a lot more other common things that can cause moody.
For exsample, i have blocked sinus's a lot( a constant blocked nose), it lowers your oxeygen intake and can cause you to get very short tempered and moody.
My advice before jumping on the depression banwagen, try a better diet ( more fruit, less bad food, no need to get rid of it all together) and some excersise ( 40 min at brisk pace, 4 times a week). See how you feel after a month. If its still bad, maybe see a doctor.
good luck

It depends how long it has lasted so far. If you seem to be moody for a couple of months, then I would say something is wrong, but it doesn't have to be depression. It could be a number of things. If it lasts longer than a couple of weeks, it is time to contact your doctor to find out what is going on.

Do you feel depressed? Many things could cause you to be moody. Not enough sleep, improper diet, stress...too many of them to name. If you think you might be depressed though you need to speak to a professional about it. Depression isn't anything to play with. I know, I've bee there. I don't know if you are male or female. If you are female it could be PMS. If you're a guy, depending on your age, it could be a lower testosterone level than you should have. Whatever it is, I still say you need to go to the doctor.

no. moodiness is a sign, but if you only have one sign, it's nothing. if you start to feel lethargic & you cry constantly, it may be possible. there are a lot more signs. but you should definately look it up, just in case. & if you want it, you could get medication to help.

No I don't think so.It's normal to be moody sometimes due to the hormones. If you are always tired, can't eat, have no interest in anything, then it is depression.
