training, and sent to iraq for a year, and if they survive the year, their criminal records will be destroyed and they will be given the chance for a new start. all these drive by shootings and the only ones getting hurt or killed are the innocent and the children. these punks like to shoot and run, let them go over there where they can shoot and get shot back at. they would cry like baby's. the same goes for the prison overpopulation. get the young able bodied punks to go over there and see if they can survive the year. better than sending our young eighteen year olds right out of high school, some who will never come home to families and friends

i dont mean intermingle them with the regular troops, they can have their own unit with their kind, drop em off in a hot zone and let em go at it. do you really think that they would be taken in by them ragheads? remember, to them the only good american is a dead american. survive or die. no other direction to go.

You are wrong. ALL citizens should be sent directly to the military upon graduation of high school or dropping out. Military service should be required of all - no exception except mental retardation or terminal illness- there is NO reason why an 18 year old in a wheelchair can't be the one cutting the payroll checks stateside.
You forgot immigration. NOBODY should be allowed to even be considered for citizenship without having served 6 years active duty.

Disagree. I don''t want punk trash we should flush down a commode instead around professional U.S. military. What the GOVERNMENT needs to do is stop tying our troops' hands over there. Insurgents do not fight by any "rules," and with VERY rare exceptions, neither should we. Saddam kept the lid on the pot with an iron fist, as did Tito and myriad others throughout history in tough areas. It is the only thing barbaric morons understand!

Sounds alright, except what's to stop them from killing our own military personnel while over there? Most gang members have a huge problem with authority. They're not going to listen to what the Commanding Officers have to say, or what to do. They'd get our boys killed faster than Michael Jackson can get another nose job.

Current/recent association with Gang activity is currently a Disqualification for entering military service.
Don't forget.. many of the terrorists out there learned their trade from military service. Terry Nichols, for one..
