Some are, some aren't and some who think they aren't actually are. Just like ordinary people.

The report into the murder of Stephen Lawrence labelled London's police force "institutionally racist". I think that certain regional forces certainly have been, and indeed a number have confessed to 'institutional racism', but I do believe that they are trying (or wishing to appear to be trying) to change things. Knowing you have a problem is the first step to solving it. As in any walk of life there will be individuals who are and those who are not.

Like the Rage Against The Machine song says: "some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses".

To much of a general question.

I'm sure some police are racist and that there are many, many more that are not. You get 'bad eggs' in all walks of life and the police are no different.

It must be very difficult for them as many people play the 'racist card' as a get-out-of-jail-free card, which doesn't do the genuine claimants any good!

Personally i don't think so, i have family and friends in the police, and am actually going through the recruitment stage at the moment. I believe if you are racist the last place you would want to work would be the police force.

No! individuals can possibly be racist, but not organisations. Whoever, dreamt that one up? The word 'Racist' is normally used as a conversation stopper. For example, to stop them talking about 'immigration'. It is childish name calling. I would suggest that those who use the word the most, are probably the most racist of all. They have a vested interest in keeping the industry going.

Not generally, but there will be 1 or 2 people in the force who are.

Not as blatantly racist as they used to be. There are still plenty of racist coppers about though.
Anyway, you should be careful asking such questions.... you don't want to give them an excuse for shooting you 7 times in the head... it doesn't take much to set them off..

You cannot possibly expect an answer to this question! Some most certainly are - and I hope they are in the minority. Most are not - all are not allowed to show it.

However, you cannot police peoples thoughts though - only their actions.

There are racist people in ALL walks of life - they are generally sad, small minded, ignorant, ill-educated oafs ............... in my opinion anyway!!!

I don't think the force is intentionally and mabye not at all.

I think that only SOME individual officers unfortunately have that side to them and these are usually white!

I think the force are finding ways to combat this and root out those who are - at least I would hope.
