Generally they are not dumb; however, many feel they have to dumb-down to avoid aggrevation when they deal with others who ARE in fact dumb.

i know a guy who claims girls ruined his life, by making self-centered "dumb" decisions. his mom "decided" to get pregnant at 15, "decided" to abandon him...so he has no family. he's tried to find a girl to start his own family with but he is a total sweetheart , and we all know girls tend to like a macho guy with tattoos etc etc. so his chances are slim. he swears that "dumb" girls are why no ones thrown him a birthday party in years. why he has always slept alone. makes sense to me.
