Short term results seem to be good but what worries me is this is still a new treatment and there are no long term results to demonstrate the possible problems it can cause in the future

Yes, it can be unless your eyes are very bad. My mother in law got the laser surgery and she doesn't have to wear glasses or contacts anymore. Yet my ex-boyfriend had it done but the doctor told him that because his eyesight was so bad, the laser surgery wasn't guaranteed to last. He was told that his eyesight could revert back or get even worse than before the surgery. So far, his eyesight has reverted somewhat, enough to require him to wear glasses again but not enough to where he has to wear the thick 'coke bottle' lenses. I would do some research about this and talk to a specialist. I hope this helps.

What is the problem that you want fixed? It depends on the problem whether this is the solution. Laser surgery is generally used by ophthalmologists for retinal separation and some other conditions. If I didn't have retinal separation or something serious like that, I wouldn't go for the surgery. I wouldn't go to anyone other than an ophthalmologist for laser surgery.

It depends on your situation and the type of laser. I know several diabetics who underwent laser for diabetic retinopathy, and are now blind. However Lasic, so you no longer have to wear lenses, is quite successful. Do your own research and ask people. Don't trust what the doctors tell you unless you get several opinions that all coincide. Good luck
