Yes. good manners never go out of style. For older books on the subject, check the local library. I find Emily Post great and Miss Manners is a hoot!

I wonder if manners are taught less in family values in this day and time.
As a child I was made aware very early in life the concept of "good manners", and the result of not practicing them.
Teaching and guidance are needed.
Throughout history, examples are shown of the results of the use and misuse of "good manners".
Sadly, some never learn the value of this knowledge. After all, we are only human.

Fortunately, there is actually a revival in the art and science of proper manners. Read Lynn Truss' "Talk To The Hand". I work on my manners everyday, and it doesn't matter how crass or rude others are. Some of us have higher standards and are thankful for them.

I know I and most people my age had manners all but beaten into us as kids. Not literally but we had to mind our please and thank yous. Kids today are not expected to even follow basic safety rules so how can we expect them to remember their manners. We have been treating each generation more and more like small adults and it is getting worse very year. All it does is make for bad attitudes in small kids which then gets passed on to their kids when they grow up. i know manners aren't dead but they are rare. Which is a shame. It is a shame we can't get past ourselves long enough to even mouth polite nothings

I think they still have them, unfortunately many must be reminded to take them out and dust them off.

I think so. Everybody is trying to be the biggest bada** they know. I hate it. It will not kill people to be polite.
