...the whole design of brainwashing is that individual choice is actually usurped by using mind-control techniques...what would give any member a clue that they are being duped into believing lies...and how could they follow THE CLUES if mind-control techniques are built into the foundation of the church system and are being applied to members at every turn?

If you find yourself arguing fanatically in favour of anything without allowing for the possibility that you might be wrong, that's a sure sign you have been brainwashed. Remember you can brainwash yourself too.

You don't have to believe anything. They will follow you around and create an abusive environment. You submit to anothers dominance, comply and obey.
All cults do the same thing. They are called splinter groups. The Mormon's are particularly violent. "Blood atonement" is murder but you will be cleansed of your alleged sins. The violence is throughout their documented history. Most of these types are banished by the formal accepted versions however the Mormon's are a provisional community. They will provide for you as a member, just don't forget to enter through the front door at a publicized address.
You should never tolerate an abusive relationship. If you suspect them you must find the Mormon among your surroundings and sever the link before you get atoned for something.

The SDA is not a cult heavily noted for brainwashing. I can think about 2 things that would be a problem. If you believe that Jesus was the archangel Michael or if you believe that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast, then we have a problem! What about the health message? Do you know the history of what actually happened? If you don't know what actually happened, then you are at risk of being hoodwinked!

Well I've never heard of them brainwashing anyone but I'm Seventh Day Adventist but I don't believe all their teachings. (if that makes any sense) My beliefs more closely mirror the SDA beliefs then the other religions so if I classify myself I would say am an Adventist. Read the Bible yourself and decide what you think of it. Find what you believe then look for people that are like yourself. Thats what I did

Actually, most of us have inherited our parents beliefs, which from childhood sticks to our brain without awareness and any research. Then when we grew up we see the world and interpret everything according to that belief. So, the question is:
What is the best and true belief that has a real application in Haman's life?

The same way any theist knows they're being brainwashed. They start believing in mythical creatures and chanting.

First off, let's be clear here. To wash is to cleanse. To soil is to dirty up. So are we talking about cleansing or soiling? Braincleansing or Brainsoiling? And let's not confuse a cult with true Christianity. A cult, by definition is something YOU don't believe in, plain a simple. Christianity is not a cult, but a following of the Word, and God's teachings taught by His only begotten Son when He walked among us.

If the church you belong to is built with hands; and/or has membership as a 501(3)(c) with the IRS, then rest assured you are being brainsoiled, Seventh Day Adventist not withstanding.

Rather than judge a church by its people or its teachings, judge yourself first by what you read of His Word. Daily prayer to your Father is a good start. Prayer in silence is a second. Asking for small miracles, in His Son's name, and then checking (eyes to see and ears to hear) to see the results will build a faith stronger than any who will come against it.

Your Father and mine Loves you more than is humanly possible for us to understand and comprehend. Faith in that knowlege is far reaching.

When in doubt, pray to your Father; when confused, pray to your Father; when in trouble, pray to your Father; when in debt, pray to your Father. Do not be deceived that there is an earthly mediator. There is NOT!!

Your Heavenly Father is a jealous God. He commands that we keep His Commandments. Do not be deceived by those who would tell you that these Laws were nailed to the cross at Calvary. His Laws have not changed: not one, not any. All ten Commandments are as relevant today, as they were when Jesus walked upon the land. Sanctuary Law: the laws that pointed to the coming of the Christ, were put away at Calvary, because after He came there was no long a need to observe these laws. But the Ten Commandments were NOT put away.

God makes no mistakes: His Laws are universal throughout the universe and all the solar systems, galaxies and beyond. Man makes mistakes. Man tries to change His Laws. Man will not prevail in the end. God will. His Will is the Law. If we obey His Laws, He will be our God. If we choose not to obey His Laws, and ignore His presence in our daily lives, then He will not be so giving of His Love, His protection and of His Mercy.

Like "native" I too lean toward the teachings of the early SDA, but belong to no church; no physical structure, no congregation. "Nitrogen" posed a good question we must all answer about the religion or religious lendings we have. In the end, the Bible will give us the truth and solice we seek, but reading and understanding it takes time, patience and effort. It is not a quick read nor a quick study, nor is it easy to grasp the story line sometimes. You, a volitional being, must decide in the final anaylsis as to where you want this new study to lead you.

My self. I was raised a Presbyterian. I stopped going because there was no fire in the teachings, no substance, no Law. The sermons put me to sleep. After decades of ho hum living I stumbled across a book trilogy which set my mind afire, and I have never looked back. From this book series I went in search of truth. Truth lead me to the laws of the land. A study of those laws and a search for their origins (this country's laws that our forefathers used in establishing its foundation for this Republic) was sought after. I joined a small group of men and women from all walks of life who had a similar interest in this discovery.

The end result of this study was the realization that all man made laws ultimately fall to God's Ten Commandments. All successful nations use the ten Commandments as a basis for setting up their own laws, whether or not they realize it. So, with this discovery I branched off from this group in search of a religion which still held to these laws AND accepted Jesus, the Christ as the prophesized Saviour sent from the Father to die for our sins.

In this discovery phase, I found many off shoots of Jewish teachings - who followed some commandments and then picked and chose which of the 700 + other Jewish teachings (which are not God's Law) and so forth that they would follow....

I desired something on a more firm footing; something clear and simple. All truth is simple by definition. There was only one such candidate on the planet, that I found: SDA. This is not the SDA of today, which has in some sad and grave respects joined hands across the sea with Rome, once again, as most protestant churches today have, but I am referring to the original teachings of Ellen White and E.J. Waggoner and the founding fathers who did the deep study into the origins of Bible study back in the mid 19th century. These men and women were on point, and their efforts were not in vain. SDA, thou only a million strong in this country, has well over 9 million followers world wide. Hope this helps.

One more thing that needs pointing out. Satan has a Mark, which man is deathly afraid of for he/she knows not what it will be or is. God has a Sign which sets His children apart from the rest of all the world. The answer to this riddle lies in the Ten Commandments, for the Mark is also the Sign. One is negative, the other Positive. Remember this, if nothing else. We can follow and obey only one master. We can not serve both. I will leave you with that.
