That also happens to me but most of my friends get drunk with vodka faster. And the worst thing with beer is the hangover the next day! It is not as bad for vodka. And by the way, I forget everything when I drink too much beer or tequila but that does not happen for gin or vodka - weird...

Because beer is carbonated which helps your body absorm more alcohol then you're getting from a few shots of vodka.
