Why doesn't my fiancee want our reception at the local YMCA?

Because, if you can't afford to do it right, then you should be changing how you do it. I can't imagine making any sort of effort to go to a reception at the "Y" - I'd rather rent a movie and order take out.

Remember, a reception is not about cramming as many of your family & friends in a room together and feeding them bad food. It's about celebrating their parts in your life and telling them how much you appreciate them - all while celebrating your wedding.

Most people associate the YMCA with exercise and The Village People! Your fiancee may want a more romantic location for the reception, but, in all actuality, if you are using a community room, then you will be able to use decorations to try and get the desired effect. You will probably want to keep looking for a more appropriate venue, but also ask your fiancee to not rule out the Y just yet.

Good luck!

that is iffy... 1/2 the team will like it and leap in, the different 1/2 will in all likelihood take a seat lower back at their tables. i imagine it really is a thrilling music, yet after attending 2 weddings so close at the same time, I nevertheless participated, and had thrilling, yet I were given a touch aggravated with it. that is somewhat as a lot as you and your fiancee. Will you also be playing the Cha Cha Slide? hen Dance? Polkas? Macarena? etc? For my wedding ceremony, i receives rid of all even if the hen dance, in basic terms because i love that one, lol. if you're uncertain, perhaps let the DJ recognize this... And he/she will be able to play it or not, reckoning on the vibe from the gang. :)
