Faith. And when he "left the book" it was brand spanking new.

"God" didn't leave a book, man wrote it. Christianity was strictly a Hebrew religion, but like most viruses, it spread. In the 1200s-1300s, Christianity traveled to England. At the time, it was manipulated for the sole purpose of being a scare factor so people would not get out of line. The bible "evolved" past it's earlier writings, leaving a small trace of what it once was and became a whole new, rewritten tragedy.

Don't forget, "god" didn't leave us one book but many, non of which agree (unless you take the theists' "the same god in many forms" cop out). The obvious reason it doesn't tell us is because it doesn't exist. If a god did exist, its ignorance of the evils perpetrated in its name and the pain and suffering this "loving" god puts upon both its own followers and other innocents does not warrant praise but condemnation for its inhuman stance. If god was human and humanity was its child, god would have been thrown in to jail a long time ago for child cruelty and the key thrown away.

The Bible has been compiled (for us to read) for only about 2,000 years now. Before that, God was constantly and directly communicating to mankind since the day He created us. He had his prophets write down everything he said, so he didn't have to keep repeating himself over and over throughout the centuries to come. His words are there to obey, as they still apply to us today. But he still does communicate to us "outside" of the Bible. Through prayers, faith, hope, and when we're in danger and we call out to him. He anwers us back on an individual basis. You must first make a commitment to him and have salvation, if you want him actively working in your life. He's there for you 24/7 when you need Him. Do not forget this.

God knows. The basis of Christianity is faith, without faith in something unseen then there is no religion or following. God came upon the Earth as a man, in Jesus the Christ and walked among us and felt the things we do etc. When he ascended the Holy Spirit another part of the trinity came among us to give us the calling. Men wrote down the old testament then the new to give us the history and the ways we are to follow most were angel inspired or told or shown things. The early catholic church as it was in Rome when Constantine the emperor ordered it to be compiled from all the different writings of men,so there was one book for all Christians. It then was spread throughout Europe and England is where the King James English translation comes from. So God in fact left us 1. Himself in the beginning and his laws and words. 2. He walked among us and died in the form of Christ to save us.3. His Holy Spirit to be with us now 4. His disciples and followers that wrote down his story. 5. He touched a Roman emperor, in Rome where so many Christians were killed by them, to have these stories compiled into the bible.
Now there are 5 things and not just an old book he gave mankind as evidence, the rest is our choosing and that is faith. If you need to be shown proof that God and Christ has done many, many miracles to show to man he is and he cares and he is the creator, then that is written in that old book.If God sat on a throne among us here and told us do this or do that in the flesh, where is your faith as well. He created the garden and wanted to care for mankind and witnessed the first sin and saw a need in man for some independence, as well Satan walks the Earth seeking to destroy Gods plan for us. As a human you are limited in what you see, and seek eviendence where your faith should be. We were not made as a robot, we were made a human and God gave us many chances, that old book many may dispute or put down, you may be one as well for me I would rather have the bible than go to the courthouse and get a list of rules and man made laws, without faith and that old book, that's about all you are left with.

If a H U G E hand came down from the
sky and a booming voice said something like:

I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD,
I HAVE CREATED ALL OF THIS.

People would have no choice but to believe.
SOME people would believe only because
they saw it.

But instead, he comes to us in the form of
man, born to a VIRGIN no less, and a
poor carpenter.

The same still applies, BELIEVE that
the Lord even loved humans enough
that he gave up expecting them to follow
his rules and orders, all they have to do
is BELIEVE that Jesus is his son, God
in human flesh, and that he sacrificed the
son for all of our sins instead of needing
to sacrifice animals any more, and
all the sin is washed away--and we have
eternal life in Heaven.

That's all just a bit harder to beleive, huh?

and that, is where FAITH comes in.
Having faith that God gave us all this
wonderful chance and opportunity called
life.

How else would 'God' profit in on the tremendous book sales. It costs money to keep a kingdom running, especially as large as his supposedly is. Also, he would be too busy for his private engagements all the time if he has to keep telling people the same old stuff over and over forever. As I look at it now, he needs to find a new profession because monarchies, as his, are starting to fade away in the world, as he eventually will be...

I think let us be fair to God. If a scientist has something to tell us, we naturally accept for him to write a thesis, or a book or hold a conference to tell us about it. It is done for a period of time and then it has to stop. He cannot be going around to everyone he meets and telling them of his "miracle cure for cancer/HIV" for example.

God spoke to man and the prophets for over 2000 years. And these are the things that are recorded in the bible. If you read the bible, you will see that God is extremely patient with mankind. He repeats and pleads patiently for them to follow him but they will not.

For me, fortunately, he let us "an old book". Otherwise, he could have said "Enough is enough. For 2000 years, I spoke and plead with man. That's it. I will keep silent. I will not leave them a hint I am around. When they die, I will just sent them to hell because of all the sins they have committed."

Thank God for "the old book"

Its all a matter of faith. Its really upto the individual to be religious. If he decides to be religious then he has every right to believe in God.And If God did come and tell it himself that he exists, then That faith and belief wont be present in him.

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
He does not want all to believe.

He wants us to explore the world and universe around us and realize there must be a God. The books are there to give additional guidance and healing to those who appreciate them.
