Seagulls dont have the muscle in their feet that allows them to curl their toes to perch. The only webbed footed birds that I know that perch in trees are the Egyptian Goose, and Wood Duck.

I hope this Helps

Have you ever seen the feet of a seagull? Doesent sound like you have! They are webbed! Webbed feet are brilliant for water birds for swimming or walking along the sand, but NOT to good for landing in trees, they don't do gripping very well!!!

I think they are adapted for living near the ocean where there are no trees... I think of the southern pacific coast where seafulls flock...there are no trees on the shore. They could not live in trees and live on the shore

Seagulls like open spaces, trees provide shelter for birds who need to hide, seagulls don't need this shelter. they nest on beaches among other seagulls. Actually most ocean birds don't need trees to survive, so it is not their natural habitat.
