I was recently agrieved to find that the New York Cosmos counted schoolboy and junior goals in their bid for Pele to get to the magic 1,000 goals mark. My mind wandered and I become to think of any other such blatant exagerations anyone in the public eye has benefited from and I could not shake the image of our lord Jesus. Who, at Galilea fed the 5,000 from a fish and a few loaves of bread he took from a small boy. I can't help but wonder did he in fact, simply call the caterers in? Or has the number of people or food be slightly exagerated. I find it strange that no one sought the and documented the views of the small boy who's lunch fed 5,000 strangers either. I'll prepared strangers at that.

The difference is that Pele is just a person. A person with talent, yes, but still, just a person.

Jesus was, and is, not. He is our Savior, and able to preform miracles. Now, assuming you believe in Jesus as the Savior, then to believe in his ability to preform miracles shouldn't be too hard.

Now, assuming you don't believe in Jesus as the Savior, then, frankly, why do you believe that he fed anyone?

As far as seeking the boy out, the thing is, even Jesus' followers didn't believe the food would feed everyone, so they didn't note who he was, and when they saw what happened, it was too late - he was back in the crowd (no doubt being yelled at by his mom for wondering off..) Have you ever tried keeping track of a child in a large crowd like that? Think about how hard it was - now add to it the fact that the child you are trying to keep track of is one you don't even know... (And Jesus didn't need to prove it by bringing forth the boy - this is the ultimate case of the proof is in the pudding, or, in this case, the loaves and fish)

As to them being ill prepared, they weren't planning on taking a trip, which is what happened. Jesus was wanting to be alone to grieve the execution of John the Baptist, and the people, when they heard about it, went out to join him.

At the end of the day, it was suggested to Jesus to send them away so they could all go buy something to eat (which, for all we know, they were fully prepared to do - either buy food or go home to eat), when Jesus said no and told the disciples to feed them. Think about it - if you have a lot of unexpected guests early in the day and you're having such a nice visit they end up staying longer than they planned, so you decide to invite them to dinner and they accept, does that make them ill prepared?

Again, this is all assuming that you believe in Jesus. If you don't, then to debate how many people He fed is similar to debating how, exactly Santa can fit down chimneys - does he shrink to fit, or does the chimney magically expand?

Personally, I believe in Jesus, but that's something we all have to decide for ourselves.

Well, being that they were a bit from the City, and on the hills, they were not able to get the loaves of bread from anyone else but the boy because they would have to seperate to go into the City to find it...(bazaars).

I dont find it hard to believe, when you considered that the LORD made this World, and all that surrounds it...

HE did all the intricasies to each thing, and took great care in planning, so that we would be well cared for, until Adam and Eve sinned, then HE still didnt abandon us completely...

So, I dont find it "hard" to fathom, that HE could do this, as HE was performing many miracles in that day...

I wish you well..

I'm not bothered what they do to try and put Pele on a pedestal. For me the most talented footballer ever, with the best individual skill is Diego Maradona.

I am English and don't like what he did with the hand ball in the world cup quarter finals in 1986, but I don't let that cloud my judgement. He is the best footballer ever, simple as.

As far as religion goes, it's all bollocks.

Actually, in the Bible it says that he fed 5,000 men, excluding women and children so it could be even more!

Some Christians may well take this as a metaphor (like the idea that those with faith can move mountains) but there are plenty who believe he literally did this. Afterall, if everything he did was metaphorical, what would be so special about him?

My bro is a priest (I'm a non-believer but reckon that my bro can get me through the pearly gates when the time arrises..) and when I asked him about this a few months ago, he said that what probably happened was that when each person was offered the food, they declined to eat in,so when noone ate the food there was still some left, making it seem that it had 'fed' everyone....hmmm,I wanna know why theres not more about what he did after he descended to Earth,if I'd done that,I'd've gone on loads of tours telling everyone about my adventures... you see, this is one of the reasons why I'm a non-beliver...

Jesus is the Lord of the universe. The feeding of the 5000 was a miracle. Jesus can alter the laws of physics or biology if he wanted and on this occassion He did. It's as simple as that.

It amazes me that people can doubt the Lord. I mean, if it were not some higher being.. named GOD... that created the earth and everything else, how come scientists can't make people from dirt? Why can't we create new planets? Yeah, Jesus called in a caterer and in 5 minutes they had enough food to feed the multitude.

Jesus has been so mystified that you loose reality about the man. He is a servant of God {act 3v13] and the disciples called him so. He called himself son of man. Today you call him son and god. saviour and all.
Well that story about the fish boy and his meal feeding multitude. The number is not necessary same for those who took the meal but the message. That we should all know God thru His servant. Even the tsunami which carries so many mesages got misinterpretted that rather than many reverting to God started abusing God and misrepresenting Him thereby

possibilities are
1 it was a very big fish
2 people did not get very big portions
3 he gambled with the fish and bread and won more fish in poker
4 it was a miracle.
5 it was a mistranslation "and jesus took 5000 people and fed them to a giant fish"

but my theory is he made fish soup. stock mixed with breadcrumbs and pieces of fish would go a long way. over time the figures became exagerated.

it was written that Jesus fed 5000 men, not counting the woman and children, there is no practical nor scientific explanation. whatever happened on that day, it occured. if you are christian, you believe in the almighty who created the heaven and the earth and all the things in it including you, then how would you question his son on how he fed 5000 men? the fact on how he do it is not the question, but do you believe that he can do it?
