Hi i dont know whether or not i had my tetanus booster at 15 so i am planning to go get a tetanus booster now. However if i have had one and i have another i have been told there can be side effects. Can anyone tell me what these are?

it won't be a problme, I work in the emergency room and people always forget if they have had one and so we given one as a precaution. You should have one every ten years as it doesn't last much longer than that

Being overvaccinated for tetanus very seldom causes any problems. But not so for the othe disease they are going to vaccinate you for: diphtheria. Nearly always a "tetanus jab" is actually a "Td" or tetanus-diphtheria shot. If you are WAY over-vaccinated for diphtheria ( like receiving a complete repeat primary series right after the first), then you may experience allergic reactions or another immune abreaction.
But the odds of that occuring from getting a few extra Td jabs because you cant show your last shot are very, very, VERY low.

To my knowledge there are no serious side effects...it's not abnormal to lose immunization records, so getting an unnecessary booster isn't going to hurt you (My husband is in the army and they keep losing his records, so he's had like 4). If you're really worried, however...ask the doc/nurse when you go in to get the shot, they can let you know if there's any reason you shouldn't be receiving it.

No side effects really. I guess your work keeps you at risk to tetanus requiring to comply with the booster dose anyway just have it and you will be safe I assure you.
