Do guys go out with these girls and actually see a potential long term relationship or even marriage come out of it? They should go out with girls who are pretty (who don't have to wear too much make up), kind, smart, and considerate of others.

Many of us, depending on personal values, morals, etc., look for a women we are not only attracted to, but that other guys may also be attracted to. In this sensse it is showing off what they have. There is this and a combination of other things: The guy needs someone to make him feel better about himself, only views women as objects, looking for more meaning in his life (purpose-a reason to live), or may just want sex from a "pretty" girl.
I personaly think that all guys have gone through this or they are struggle with wanting this (maybe not exactly the pounds of make-up boob job girls, but extremely beautiful superficial girls). Because it's all about making themselves feel better. Most of this is dictated by society and friends.

Society determines what a man is programmed to believe is beautiful. Instinct does the rest. The glamor, fashion, movies, porn girls and advertising industries advocate painted faces, gravity defying body types and all the other "sexy" physical attributes of women.
The same question applies to cars. Why pay more for a car with higher maintenance costs, poorer performance, and less reliability? These are trophy things that men are programed to think they want.

i imagine Karma (the jap variety anyhow) works out logically in even an earthly way. besides, all significant religions concentration on it indirectly or yet another... The Golden Rule and all that. only different names. yet gazing it strictly from a common sense element of view... in case you're taking care of human beings crappily, how do you imagine you're gonna dealt with even as your in a similar position? in case you (as a hypothetical pal) refused to lend me a dollar even as i wanted one. Why might want to I lend you one in case you needed it? etc... you can ask the same about girls who go out with the cocky stuck up air head but "gorgeous" guys. it goes both ways darlin. no one really knows why. my opinion is that the world is just a really really shallow place

That is a question all women have asked themselves for decades. Unfortunatley there is no clear answer to it. Just be careful who you fall for. Get to know them before you do anything drastic.
