Minute Steak Sandwich with Wild Garlic
Servings: 4
Level of difficulty: Easy
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 3 minutes

Ingredients
main:
4 minute steaks
8 slices sourdough bread
4 tbsp Olive oil, for cooking
2 handfuls of wild garlic leaves
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 garlic clove, halved
4 tbsp mayonnaise

Method
1. Beat the steaks out with a meat hammer until flat. Heat a griddle pan and briefly toast each slice of bread on one side to make it crusty.

2. Add a little olive oil to the same hot griddle pan and cook the steaks for 30 seconds each side.

3. Remove the steaks, wipe out the pan, add a little more oil and wilt the garlic leaves with a splash of lemon juice.

4. Rub the cut side of the garlic onto the crusty sides of the bread and firstly lay on the wilted garlic leaves, followed by a steak. The juice from the steak and garlic leaves will soak into the bread and make it moist.

5. On the other side of crusty bread, spread some mayonnaise. Sandwich the two slices together and eat immediately.

1. Lay two pieces of bread on a clean surface. (Maybe a plate or piece of paper towel.)

2. Dress each side with really yummy things. For instance, peanut butter on the left side, spread to each edge, and juicy, jammin’ jelly spread on the right side. Be creative, just remember to keep it bite sized, easily bitten and not too drippy!

3. Keep the insides facing each other and lay the left side on top of the right side. Or, lay the right side onto the left side - you choose the direction!

4. The whole sandwich is now ready to eat. If you prefer a smaller handful, simply cut the sandwich in half or into quarters!

Making a sandwich sounds pretty easy. And it is. That’s why sandwiches are so popular. They can be made quickly, eaten easily and carried with you. But sandwiches come in many, many, many sizes, shapes, fillings and even breads! Being creative with your sandwiches can be fun, healthy and tasty. Try wrapping your sandwich fillings in a tortilla. Put your fillings between two soft pretzels or stuff them inside a pita bread! Trying new breads and new fillings or spreads can help you make healthy sandwiches and keep your body fit and strong.

Odds are you really like one of the following sandwiches, they are some of the top sandwiches that kids ask to take in their lunches:

1. Peanut butter and jelly
2. Hamburger/Cheeseburger
3. Grilled Cheese
4. Ham Sandwich
5. Hot Dog
6. Bologna Sandwich
7. Sloppy Joe

Try these twists on your favorite sandwiches - peanut butter and apple slices; cheeseburgers with crunchy cucumber slices under the bun; shredded carrots inside of your grilled cheese; your ham sandwich on a tortilla all rolled up; hot dogs topped with your favorite salsa; and that bologna sandwich with slivers of celery or put your sloppy joe between two soft pretzels! Cut your sandwich into shapes using cookie cutters or drinking glasses. You can even "paint" your sandwiches with food coloring!

Now, you try taking your very favorite sandwich and adding or changing just one filling. How about peanut butter with banana slices? Ham and Cheese with sunflower seeds? Or add some crumbled corn chips to your best dressed hot dog or hamburger for a crunchy bite every time!

These are just a few ideas for making some old favorites new and exciting! Now, it’s your turn. When you think of something new to add to your sandwich, you might be surprised to find you're cooking your very own sandwich meal!

I love the old faves, egg mayo with cress or onion. better with brown bread.
Or I do like brown bread with this filling, tuna, cream cheese (any flavour) a touch of mayo. Lovely!

or, egg whisked then add a good amount of grated cheese, put on a plate and put under the grill, when top is browned mix it up and grill till all the egg is cooked and the cheese melted, can also be done in microwave, but you don't get the lovely brown bits. good on any bread or toast.
