If you know how to use the task manager this is the better option.

I use Spybot and am happy with it, but the same thing happened to me. Turned out my computer had several viruses. Try downloading AVG-Free Edition to get rid of possible virus, then try Spybot again. I did this a year ago and since then, no problems.
