I think so, that is why the saying of "nice guys finish last" I think at times people are over-polite and tend to be walked all over and in turn they seem weak.
It is ok to genuflect somewhat, but to be too soft shows lack of confidence. I also am not advocating slamming doors into old lady's faces either. As there is a much finer line between stern and rude.

Absolutely.
There are many social situations that call for a more informal manner...being too polite becomes annoying quickly.
Too polite is a parody reflected in the cartoons of Chip and Dale.
Usually good for an endearing chuckle....but as you can imagine, in real life that would become frustrating.

No I think it's wonderful when I meet a polite person. It is extremely rare where I live. I think people can be really rude and inconsiderate these days. If a person is too polite these days it's a rarity. I would love to meet those people but I seem to keep running into pricks where I live.

No. But if you are polite you should watch out for those that try to take advantage of you. Sometimes people envy those that are polite and just want to bring them down because they don't have that ability.
As one example I used to be a very polite gentleman when I realized people started takin advantage of me. I got ticked off and said F it and I just stopped being so polite.

Yes. For me I'd deem a person too polite when he/she is overly formal. C'mon, you ought to have warmed up to a person if you've been chatting with him/her say, for bout 15 minutes?
Politeness is a virtue, but being overly courteous is a little unnatural for me. Humans were not made to speak in written English.

I think a person could be too much of anything you could think of. In my opinion, if you are too polite, you may be one of two things... a person trying to come off as having a good upbringing, rich and such, or in another way... not too confident and always apologizing, feeling lower then another, like you need to respect everyone besides yourself.

"Look at how many people said yes." I would say that it is hard to find someone who is too polite but their are some who want to be polite and that is a good thing contrary to these Yahoo's that said YES.. " I say no, politeness is good."
