I want to download open office but I have the dreaded dial up and even worse it's Netzero. Netzero likes to disconnect after 4 hours is there a way I can stop this I really want this download. I'm getting cable internet very soon so don't suggest it.

first you should use a download manager that allows you to resume a download at a later time
download any download manager from
http://freewww.uv.ro/other/other.html (i recommend download accelerator lite)
and than download your openOffice package usig the new download manager. In this case, if you download doesn't finish within 4 hours and the internet is disconetected, you can resume the download from where it was left after you reconnect

using bittorrent can also help you since you can resume it after any interruption.

use firefox browser for downloading.
