I have two cats, both males, had them neutered after 6 mos of age and they cost $65 CAN each. The vet explained to me that it is much more expensive to spay female than males as the surgery is much more detailed. They will also insist that you get shots for your kitten before the surgery is done as well, these also cost $65 CAN for the first round.
FYI, when my dog was sick, I was advised by friends that live in a rural area that vet are usually cheaper out there. It was true. A bit of a drive, but saved a few hundred in the end.

It all depends on the Vet. If your in the UK and on a benefit like Housing benefit or Income support, contact your local branch of the Cats Protection League, and they will give you a voucher towards the cost of the neutering. Ive had one done about 6 weeks ago and I was only £27.00 for the female. Males are a bit cheaper as the vet doesnt have to cut into them to spay them.

you shouldn't pay more then 50 to 55 for one cat. I think females are 5 or ten dollars more then males or vice versa but in this day of spading your animal...it is only fifty bucks tops. Call your local community center and they usually have once a month clinics for low cost neutering. Check out the dog pound, PetCo and also too, if you live with your family...they also have low cost neutering for low income families ???
My friend is a vet and I know for a fact, it is no more then 50 ~ 55 bucks !

I can't remember but I think it was about £60 each. But well worth it. If you cannot afford that the local PDSA will do it for free (or some Pets-At-Home stores have vets attached, and they will occasionally do it for free to encourage people to get it done and to help cut down the number of stray cats having kittens)

What? 40 pounds? $90? Ouch. My vet charged me the local equivalent of $10 or so. And he is arguably the best in town. That is male kitten. I should think female altering costs more.

I paid $90 for a spay and $40 for the neutered. I suggest talking to your local shelter, they can usually recommend the cheapest.

You know all you really need is a gum boot and a very sharp razor! Plus someone that knows how to do it.
Otherwise to get a vet to do it will cost about $90
The one thing you should know though is that if you get it done when the kitty is young it is better for the kitty or so the vets say.

My vet charges me $65. He very much supports spaying/nuetering. I have heard that some vets charge as much as $200. I would shop around. Good luck.
