I'm trying to find if there is any logic to the choices you made in your dichotomies.
Buddhist = a religion/philosophy. So in asking whether one would choose to be a Buddhist or a Muslim, you are asking one to choose between religions. Although some say that Buddhism is atheistic, so you are asking one to choose between atheism and theism.
Communism = an economic system. According to some Americans (and I'm sure others, too), communism is evil and anti-American. Many (but not all) Americans also see Islam as evil. So in asking whether one would choose to be a communist or a Muslim, if you are asking a certain population of Americans, you may be asking them to decide between when he/she perceives as the "lessor of two evils." Communists were also often labeled as "Godless", so we are back to a choice between atheism and theism. But then some claim that Muslims worship a false God; but even still, it is theism.
Then we get to atheist or Muslim. Third times a charm: this, once again, pits atheism against theism.
Lastly, a clown or a Muslim. Believe it or not, this is the one I have the toughest time understanding. It's also the one that I see to have the least poltical and religious tension in it.
So boiling it down, although I am sure my logic is terribly flawed, you are asking: would you rather believe in God or not believe in God? Given your choices, if one chooses to believe in God, then the only option they have (in your limited world) is to be a Muslim.
But what I just realized is I spend way too much time trying to figure these things out and responding to these questions.
G'night.

Ouch, you'll eventually hit a nerve...
Probably Buddhist, the promotion of non-violence would be a good change of pace, if I were muslim.

You wud simplify this question by asking: "Wud u rather be a Muslim or a non-Muslim?" That is a personal question for each of us and not for you.

What do you have with Muslims? They are people just like us, some of them bad and some of them good.
