The real question is why do you really want an excuse to keep from doing your civic duty?

Your employer doesn't have a policy to cover your absence during your jury duty? Odd.

Now having stated my goody two shoes reply, in my area the judges are really tough & from my personal experiance, less than .1% (that's point 1 percent) potential jurors are excused.

Warrants are issued for people who fail to show. My postal person lost my first notice & I received a nice note that stated if I didn't call a phone # within 5 days, a warrant would be issued for my arrest. I called & told them my story & I was re-scheduled for immediate jury duty.

However our case was dropped quickly as it was settled out of court & they dismissed all the potential jurors. So I am good for another year!

I think you really ought to go if you possibly can just to see how our justice system really works!

Some of the cases I have been picked for have really been intersting. Like the 600+ lb woman who fell through her rental home floor & was suing the landlord. Again, settled out of court on the second day.

They can come and bring you in physically so you can explain to the judge why you were a no show. In bigger cities a lot of people do not show up and nothing happens. The cities and counties cannot afford to deal with people who refuse to do their civic duty. Juries are one of the few things left in this country where the founding fathers have not been tromped on. Although they try you have immense power as a juror and can make up your own mind. It is America.

you have a warrant put out for your arrest and if you get in trouble like pulled over while driving or something stupid when your in a rush you will go to JAIL because when they run your info you will have a warrant. YOU may get out of jury duties if you have a legitimate reason just call and ask!!

you can get excused from jury duty for medical reason or prove that going will cause an hardship for for you or your family, but to not go at all i think they would consider that contempt of court .,because you were summons's to appear for dutie.

you get arrested and then you get to give someone else jury duty because you didn't go to yours. Now that's just not nice is it..

A warrant will be issued for your arrest if you don't at least show up.
You're American. Quit being a coward and do your civic duty.

You could end up in jail. Or you better have a damned good reason for not going.
