ok here is the deal. I have been shopping at this grocery store for a year. There is a self-checkout line manned by this black male who weighs about 400 lbs and is about 40-50 yrs old. He always creeps me out. He recognizes me because I am a regular customer but says nothing to me. If there are 10 people in line, he will see me and just stare at me all the time. When I walk in, he turns around and stares at me. I went to Krogers today and he saw me walk in and stared at my neck for a long time. He is really creepy. I am tempted to complain to the manager, but I know they won't care or do anything about it. I am a customer and I have tried to be nice to him but he just stares at me for a long time, even if I go into another line. Anyways my best bet is to ignore it, but I feel violated when he stares at my neck or chest area. I am asian-american and I dress very conservatively. There is a melting pot of customers that go into that store too, so I don't think it's about race.

ok I have said hello to him many times in the beginning to be nice. Also , I do not stare at him. He sometimes walks right in front of me when I walk to the line and stares.

And Jacah5, it's not about "getting over myself" it's about some creepy old guy staring at my breasts and neck. How would you like that from a stranger!?? It would make any decent woman feel uncomfortable. Geez I am not flattering myself people, this is a complaint!

Eeeew...I got the shivers just reading that.

You're probably right about talking to the managers; I doubt there's much they could do, anyway, as you don't have a complaint, as such (legally, I mean).

I wonder if you are daring enough to do what *I* would do...? Go right up to the guy, and ask, "Do you have a problem? You always stare at me. Do it one more time, and I'll have the management crawl all over you. I mean it, buddy." And then crisply walk away.

We know the management really is powerless, but Mr. Creep may not know that, and may find someone else to gawk at.

Good luck!

Maybe he wants to eat you for dinner, But seriously you could go to another store and shop there or go to a different check out line all toghter. Has he ever tried to hit on you or touch you in any way, if he has that can get him into big time trouble. I know that i had a problem with someone that my girlfriend worked with, he grabbed her on the butt and let me tell you when she told me i went through the roof. I called the hospital right away and filed a complaint, it turns out he was harassing a lot of people at work and they were just to scared to speak out. But when my girl came forward others spoke out and he was fired from his job. Don't be scared to take action against people like that.

First, I maybe would confront him and ask why he keeps staring at you. You will put him on the spot if he is near other people. It may embarass him enough to stop. If that doesn't work, I would complain to his manager. If that doesn't stop, I would consider shopping at another store. I don't think he is going to hurt you, he may just think you're beautiful, and doesn't realize he is gazing too long for comfort.

report him..but then the lonely old man would get fired. Say hello...or just tell him flat out that you feel creeped out by him staring. Or ask him if there is a problem. Maybe he just has some major crush on you. Who knows. Or just change stores.

Get over yourself!! The guy is lonely and doesn't have the courage to talk to you first. Talk to him, you may find out that he is a very nice guy, and just needs a friend!!

Quit looking at him. If you know he's staring at you for long periods of time you must be staring at him for long periods of time. Maybe he thinks you're into him. :D
