If your GF age is above 18 and your 21 then go to the court and get married.

If both of you are old enough and an adult already, then I recommend the fiance of yours to talk it out with her father adult to adult, and that she is OLD and MATURE enough to get married and POSITIVE that she's ready for the next big step in her life. In my opinion, (if it's not a long wait) I'd get approval from the family first, to make sure there's no voodoo dolls used during the wedding ceremony or cursing of any sort (and also to make sure that the parents will be giving 100% of their blessing). Just ease it in for the father for a few weeks or so, he'll get used to the idea.

Then don't marry him. Go to him and ask for his permission. If he refuses ask for the reasons with respect and honor. Talk to him about his doubts and your thoughts on the matter. Then the two of you need to make your own decision...it is not his choice that matters but the way you handle the situation will go a long way to gaining his approval. Good luck!

what matters most is whether you and your girlfriend are ready. Although he is your girlfriends father, you need to be happy and live your life. If you both want to get married, then do so. Remember, its not like you are marrying her dad (although you will become family). If you are both of legal age, and love each, then i dont see a problem with it.

Have a sit down with the father and let him know what you're intentions are towards his daughter and make sure to express to him how much you love his daughter. Give him time to accept the situation. If he is completely hopeless ask her anyways and make it a long engagement. When he sees how happy his daughter is with you and planning her wedding he may come around.

Does it really matter if he is not ready. If you love each other than go for it.
