My 24 yr. old is refusing medical treatment. He needs to go to a rehab facility for alcohol abuse, but he needs some medical tests done first. Is there any way to force him?

Yes in KOKOMO a friend of mine mom had him Baker acted but you have to go thru a judge and prove that he is a danger to him self as well as others. My friend was drinking a half gallon of whiskey a day and his house got condemned so his mother got her a attorney and they both went in front of a judge and got it done so yes it is possible but a lot of red tape. The best thing is to contact a attorney and try the Logansport state hospital that's where my friends mom sent him and it really did him a lot of good he doesn't drink any more. I hope this helps you because I have lost a couple of dear friends that didn't get help and now they are gone please don't let this happen to your loved one.

It is not called the Baker Act. It is part of the Indiana Code:
IC 12-26-5
Chapter 5. Emergency Detention

You can read the legalities of it in the link.

:-/ So sorry about your boy. Really sorry.

no we do not. it appears it would almost have to be out patient and Indiana rarely does this.
It appears in patient has to be almost always for mental health and excludes drugs and alcohol except in very extreme cases as chapter 12.23.11 says drugs and alcohol are excluded.
but by the other answers you are getting it seems it is possible . so please just use these sites also and maybe it will get you the answers you seek
