For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
2 to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace;
3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.
He can't be Jesus because he was made 'like' the son of god, Jesus made like jesus.. doesn't quite make sense.
It couldn't be the Father coz no man can set eyes on the father, but Abraham was able to see him.
For those quick to splurt out "out of context" please enlighten me as to what is the context.

Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah, spoken of as 'a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek' (Ps. 110:4), and so Jesus plays the role of High Priest once and for all.
Jesus is considered a priest in the order of Melchizedek - because, like Melchizedek, Jesus was not a Levite, and thus would not qualify for the Levitical priesthood (Heb. 7:13-17).

Paul only meant that they had no recorded of his parentage because he was not a descendant of Abraham. Melchizedek was just as much a mortal man as any other; he was born and he died.
Abraham paid his tithing and partook of the sacrament under the priesthood of this non Israelite. Paul was trying to show that the priesthood of Melchizedek was greater than the Levite priesthood which Aaron was given. Only sons of Levi could have this lesser priesthood but now there was a change. Christ who was not a Levite but a Jew held a priesthood which was after the order or the same type of priesthood that Melchizedek had.
Jesus gave that same priesthood to his apostles when he gave them the power to heal, cast out devils and taught them of the bread and wine. Peter was give the power to bind on earth.

Melchizedek king of Salem
A true translation is
King of the elect king of peace
The Elect are numbered as 144,000 and 2 that will live in the end time.
It is a story of the first tithe.
This suggests that not only was Christ Melchizedek but that the people of Salem (to become Jeru-salem) also had not been born yet. All in spiritual bodies.

Yeshua Messiah is Melchizadek.
Read it in the Psalms - read it in the New Testament.
You have missed the part about God becoming man to experience everything firsthand, and giving everyone, regardless of background, a chance at the knowledge of the big picture, through Melchizadek.
Also, to Kittykid, Jesus was most assuredly a Levite. why do you think his mother Mary's lineage is given in detail in the Bible?

I don't know the scripture, but out of context is not putting it down as it is written. The part about without father, without mother etc., is who? Only God before he became Jesus in the form of man fits that

You can find many characters in the Bible that typify Christ. My personal favorite, is Issac. If you read the story of his wedding, try to think of Abraham, Eleazar, and Issac as arch-typical. Abraham stands as God in the allegory, Eleazar as the Holy spirit, and Issac as Christ. Rebekah would stand as the Church.

The earthly priesthood was a shadow of the heavenly.
Melchizedec was priest of El-Elyon (which is Yahweh) and of the priesthood of heaven.
Jesus was in the order of Melchizedec because his priesthood was not of this earth because on this earth he became the sacrificial lamb, but after his resurrection in the order of Melchizedec (the heavenly priesthood) he makes intercession for the saints [recalling the offering up of himself (on earth) for their sake].

but the guy was long dead when Jesus was born, and he wasn't particularly holy. If you usethattheory, shouldn't it be abraham who wouldbe part of the holy trinity, or David, since jesus was a direct descendent of David?

Judith, Jesus was not a direct descendant of David. He was a "legal" descendant since Joseph adopted him. Mary was Levite. (Elizabeth, her cousin, was "also of the daughters of Aaron.)
