eat before drinking..oily food will help a lot in reducing the alcohol absorption in your body. drink while eating..this will lessen the amount of alcohol that you take in and the people you are with won't notice that you are not drinking too much. also, drink water...you'll end up going to the bathroom most of the time so all the alcohol will be flushed out. best of luck! :)

DO NOT DRINK. If you can't fight the peer pressure STAY HOME. What kind of friends are they if they want to see you drunk, puking and passed out. Please don't drink and drive. Take it from a former drinker and driver. Blacking out is no fun and embarrassing when your "buds" tell you what stupid stuff you did the night befor. Puking all over is no fun to deal with. Hangovers are miserable and no fun at work. Losing your job because you can't function the next day is the pits. And spending the night in jail for DUI is not good for your record, your car insurance goes up, you could kill yourself or someone else DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE.
Need I say more. You knew the answer be for you wrote it. Just Do IT---DON'T DO IT.
Besides, you cannot prevent your self from getting drunk. People say to eat bread or potatos and it will absob the alcohol. It absorbs the alcohol but it still ends up in your system. You've accomplished nothing but the inevitable.

I actually have the same problem. I always start slowly and telling myself to limit my drinking so I would not get drunk but I always fail.
I have accepted that whenever I go out drinking, I would get drunk - just need to remind myself not to do anything I would regret the next day. Unfortunately, there are times that I do not even remember what I did. I guess the best way is to stick to a certain limit where you get drunk but you are still aware of what you are doing. And also, I drink Gatorade before and after I go drinking - it helps prevent hangover the next day.
PS I will follow your question - I am also curious what people do... I can relate to what you are asking... it is easy to say not to drink but when you are there... you just can't...

Go to the toilet more often. They might make jokes about you but you'll miss lots of rounds. Or, just make up some story about why you can't have alcohol and drink coke all night. If you still want SOME drink - you can sneak some in later when they are too drunk to notice.

Eat before hand. Drink lots of water with your booze. Have low or nonalcoholic drinks. Stick to one kind of alcohol. Don't mix beer and wine and spirits. Pace yourself. You can always go home when things start to get messy. Don't feel the need to keep up.

That,s always a tough one, eat a big huge meal before you go out, then order the biggest mug of beer they have, and sip it, while also eating nachos & salsa, your co-workers will get drunk & probly not notice your still on your first beer, good luck.

I always refuse alcohol. Even if it costs friends. They are not friends if they force you to drink. I have been in fights over refusing drinks from people. I simply drink soda and if they can not deal with that, the problem is theirs. I sing part time for a living, and people always want to buy me drinks. I tell them I only drink soda, and it is hard for them to believe, but I stick to my guns.
