Has something to do with the brain... Go google "male/female brain differences" and you'll find an answer. Guys want to be on top, so usually they put down others or make everyone but them seem stupid, etc. Girls actually use their emotions and feelings, so they dont always act first, think later, and tend to actually come up with something useful in a comment, unlike the guys you talk about.

Well, thank you! I believe it is just that girls have more sense than guys. That's why. Plain and simple. No offense though, but, hey, you asked! Girls just are so used to having to explain the simplest things to guys (in detail) so they can understand, that it is normal for girls to give long answers to questions, even questions that could have simply been answered with as little as a yes, or no.

This is probably due to the same reason that girls consistently score higher on the verbal sections of the SATs, and guys do better on math; females are simply more verbally agile.
On the other hand, I like Sassy's reference to women having to explain the simplest things to men in excruciating detail. It's a sad-but-true fact.
