I think the best wine glasses are made by Riedel, but a set of 6 can run you into the $100 + range. Try Amazon.com for some nice sale prices if you don't mind getting them shipped to you. (Fair warning, I'd check their damage return policy first.)

If you're looking for everyday wine glasses, you can get sets at your local department store on sale for an affordable price. For example, Macy's has a set of 12 wine glasses on sale for $40 or The Cellar collection wine glasses (set of 4) for $20 (red or white, on sale).

If you're on a budget and are looking for stemware variety on a budget, I'd suggest going to a place like Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They've got a Vintner's 12-Piece Wine Tasting Goblet Set for $20 (regular price) that includes four each of the 11-ounce chardonnay, 13 1/2-ounce burgundy and 14-ounce bordeaux. Yes, they're dishwasher safe. You can buy online or in the store. With the occasional 20% off coupon from your mailbox or the newspaper, you'll get 'em for $16 plus tax. You'll have $$ to spare for that nice bottle of wine, plus 3 other glasses so you can share with friends.

The best wine glasses are made by a company called Riedel. They basically created the modern, thin blown, base-stem-bowl wine glass. THey make glasses for specific varietals and types of wine. Their website (www.riedel.com) has more info, and a store finder that will find a place you can buy the glasses. Be forewarned, The glasses can run as high as $70...each. However, they also make glasses around the $40-50 range for a set of four.

The cheapest way to get good wine glasses is to go to wine tastings. They usually charge five bucks to get a glass (make sure you are intended to keep the glass, some places don't) however many of the folks there leaver their glasses. The last tasting I went to I left with six crystal Eola Hills WInery glasses. For Five bucks. I also got to sample about twenty different wines.
