I actually go to the gym 6 times a week, and I watch what I eat. I am looking for exercize to help me alieviate the pain. I agree with you to a point. I could not walk the day after I had radiation. It took six weeks of rehab to be able to learn to walk again.. I think Fibro. sometimes is a generic term for what doctors don't know how to fix. I will go to the gym rain or shine, whether I can walk or not.

I do find that lifting the weights seems to help my legs, with strength. It is when I work my upper body, that I have the most difficult with.

As far as taking asprin....well... I had taken Morphine patches prescribed by the doctor. They don't work and they made me to sleepy. I weaned myself off of them, and am trying to go at it without any meds. It is so difficult.

fibromyalgia is a phoney lame excuse for people who suffer from anal cranialidis or head up *** syndrome. It is called aging. yes people get undiagnosed pain as they get older.. work it off.. quit milking the disability system and let someone who really needs it like war vets who got their legs blown off making this counrty a free place to live get some money! Any exercize is good for a person with fibro... since all the people I know who claim to have it are fat lazy pieces of shiiiit

this is Joey C's wife.. how much do you weigh are you over 300 lbs, what do you do all day.. sit and watch tv.. I have family and friends that say they suffer from Fibromyalgia and I have ready books about it.. IT IS THE LAMEST EXCUSE FOR A DISEASE! anyone can claim they have it since there is real test done to prove other wise.. and I know people who are milking the system getting free money, while I have to bust my A S S working! Every one has pain at times, so take a asprin and get up.. Cancer is a different story.. but that would be the cancer that is hurting you not fibro..

actually I have it too...the one thing you don't want to do is sit or stay idle alot. That will cause it to hurt more and weaken the muscles. I have arthritis too. One thing for the hands is hand massage and get a big thing of putty and make a ball and squeeze it in your hand. Keeps the joints from locking up as much. Smoking which yea I do will also dehydrate the muscles. Walk even if at a slow pace to keep the muscles active. Can pretty much do the excercies you like but at a easier pace. The number 1 thing I would also recoommend is water arobics. The muscles can excercise without the pressure on them.

Get a gazelle glider. They are very easy on the joints, and it is like you are floating. Plus, if you do the exercises daily, you will feel great and lose weight. (You don't have to buy the expensive ones, look online they should run around $100)

I have fibromyalgia and have had it for six years now. Try to keep doing normal stuff but try and find a balance whereby you are not pushing yourself over the limit because you will pay for it for days.
You will find what is best for you.

Swimming- bouyancy means less joint stress, excercise at you own pace, sit on the side of the pool if you get tired/sore, and still good excercise.

I'm sorry for you, that's gotta suck!!

Have you tried just simple walking? Not power walking.
Swimming is great...
Yoga helps too I've heard.
