I need help with this decision. It isn't final, but I want to find all of the pros and cons of it. I am thinking of becoming a nun. I was wondering if anybody can answer some of my questions.
They are:
How old does one have to be to become one?
Where can one go to "sign up"?
How long does it take to become a nun?

I live in Germany, but I don't want to become a German nun. Would I have to go to the states or are there places here.
Please no bad comments, just sincere answers if you have them.
Thanks and if there is anything else that you all think I should know I would be happy to hear it.

There are Benedictine nuns of Abtei St. Walburg, Murienhaus, Postfach 1142, D-85065 Eichstatt, Germany Phone # (084211) 98870-0
Their homepage: http://www.bistum-eichstaett.de/abtei-st-walburg/in_englisch.html

Religious vocation in the USA:

Hope this helps you in your search for a religious vocation. You enter as a Postulant (age 18) then a two year Novitiate program. Then you take vows for three years then finally solemn vows which all together takes six years. God bless you in your search.

Why do you want to become a Nun should be the first question you ask yourself before contemplating this momentous action.

My Mother was a Nun and my Father was a Father if you know what I mean. He was actually a Cardinal and by putting my mother, the Nun in the family way he has now been defrocked for committing a Cardinal sin and that's a real coincidence but then again, many Cardinals commit Cardinal sins I guess, so what the Hell does it matter?

I think you should stay in Germany and marry a nice Jewish boy and sit around drinking Liebfraumilch's and listening to the Vienna boys Choir. Being a Nun is for the birds and, as a would be bride of Christ you would be a long time in the queue to get some satisfaction.

DON'T do it Fraulein!

I'd say the first place to start would be your church. Visit the priest and ask him for a refernce to a local abbey. Visit and consult with the abbess/mother superior. If, after consultation, you still want to be a nun, you'll enter the order as a novice. How long your noviciate will last and whether or not you can go be a nun in another part of the world will depend upon what order your join. There are literaly hundreds of different orders. Here's a directory of orders:

Good luck.

I have a sincere answer. It's a pagan tradition originating from the Mystery Religion from Babylon.

You would serve Him better by being a good mother. If you can't be a mother, then just go through life trusting and loving God with all that you can give Him.

God has no harem. You are ready to give yourself only to Him? Then trust Him.

you sound sincere, if it will make you feel satisfied for the rest of your life doing such- go ahead.
but it also might be one day you'll realize the truth that life isn't just about serving your God.
life is actually understanding your inner self.
i hope you're not just driven by belief. i hope you don't get confuse with your body's response of feeling holy or such the thought of being a nun at the moment versus lifetime commitment.
while it sounds very noble. know first about the reality of your God. and please don't just decide or be affected based on "others" opinion.

For one thing, you are definetly on the right path. Dedicating your life to God is a very special thing. Anyway, I think you have to be 18 and you can make the process easier by googling your questions. I bet it can help you alot.
Thats all I have to say.
Remain blessed in the LORD

I would seriously pray about it and ask God if that is what He wants for your life. If it isn't, He will show you.
