Talk to someone you trust, even if it's a friend. You should not have to go through this on your own. It's too much weight on your shoulders. Since you don't know what it is that is causing you to feel this way someone else has to help you figure it out. Don't give up, please! I am sure you are young and have a lot to live for. Seek help and enjoy what life has to offer if you are only open to receive it.

Cheer up! I know this is the last thing you want to hear. Had a similar experience and it is completely irrational. Go see a shrink, it helps, but I have found that this method is better. Write down the ten things that bothers you the most in a list. Put the biggest problem on top and the smallest one at the bottom, in that order. Now start expanding on each. Write an essay if you have to, but just write. Writing about it, puts the mess in your head on paper, so you could have a rational grip on things. If it is on paper, you no longer have to think about it all the time since it has been recorded, rationally, somewhere else. You will also gain perspective over your problems and see it from outsider’s perspective. Even though it is impossible to see around your problems now, it will be once you have done this! Best of luck and report on your progress!

if u have good friends or family, take comfort in their love and support. perhaps if u were able to see the positive side of life and all the Potential it holds for you, you would NEVER think to hurt or cut yourself or do anything rash w/ your life..there IS a purpose for every one of us, and i believe that we all have the capacity to experience intense happiness & sadness...which is why u have to try reallly hard to focus on any positives in ur life, and let yourself experience and appreciate those things. if u are not here, you will never learn all there is about happiness...isn't it worth trying ur hardest to find it?? instead of wallowing in despair of what u don't have...try to think of anything and everything that is good in ur life. then try to make it better by building up confidence that u are worth living this life, and u are a beautiful person. btw, there is nothing wrong w/ seeing a "Shrink"...they go to school in order to learn how to talk and explain and discuss things w/ people, as well as diagnose. don't worry about doing those things.. exhaust ALL your resources before you resort to suicide...because at least then u would have tried everything and known what does and doesn't work for you. also, i always say if u ever feel so horrible that u want to commit suicide, i'd rather run away and start a WHOLE new life somewhere else. not that i'm encouraging running away, but just think of all the opportunity there is in LIFE....no use i throwing it away w/o allowing urself to experience all the good things in this world. take care of urself, and don't be so negative....there are good things in this world too.

Fill your life with activities. If you do nothing all day but sleep, cry, cut yourself and think about suicide you have waaay too much time on your hands. Seriously!
Get a job, go to school or take online classes, take care of or visit a shut-in so you'll be needed, start exercising, walk a neighbor's dog every day, start landscaping your yard... just find positive ways to fill up your day and, hopefully, make yourself physically tired.
I promise you'll feel better once your life is full and you don't have the time to continually think about yourself and the circumstances that are depressing you.

I am very sorry to hear that you are feeling this way. To change the outcome of any situation, you have to change the way you are dealing with it. First, you need to know what depression is. It is just a chemical imbalance in the brain, where as communication between certain electrical receptors is fouled up. YOU ARE NOT RETARDED, just a bit of bad communication in your own body. Now that you know this, you must go see your family Doctor. He can help with prescription medicine. If he feels that it is too severe, he may request that you seek further help, but First things first. After starting the medication, you must change the way you feel by acting and presenting yourself differently. If you dress in black, hide in your room and stay in the dark, you will feel bad. Use lighter clothing, go outside and move around a bit. Look for new friends. Talk to your family more. Involve yourself in life. You will find it can be satisfying also. Please take care and if you need a friend. joe010163@aol.com.

I don't think that you HAVE to go to a counselor or a shrink, but I do think it would be a good idea to tell someone that you love and someone that will listen to you. You can't be like this for the rest of your life and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Go to the Doctor, there are some great antidepressants out there, councilors don't always work. They will help you get rid of your depression and help you sort out your life and what you want out of it. Be prepared to try them for a while and if the first ones don't work try another till you find the right one. Then you will slowly be able to build some friendships and get your life back in order. Be Happy again don't put it off. Good Luck

I never saw a counselor. I didn't cut, but I did stay in bed all day and cry all the time. My primary care physician prescribed Zoloft, and my friend made me leave the house sometimes, and got better. It took a long time to get back to normal, but I did it.

Cutting and self harm are NOT very common and NOT ok - but I personally am not judging you if you engage in them, after all, when people are depressed, people are depressed. You should probably get counseling and therapy, and try to deal with whatever reason is preventing you from doing that now. Your mental health and your life are the most important!!

Ooooh dear! Life is a blessing and you are blessed to be here in this world... don't stay on your own, go out and meet friends, speak to people who have something positif to say, focus on what you do best and do it, it's probably something that will make you feel rewarded. many things are just perceptions, the fact that you are or feel depressed is just a perception and that there is no real motif for you to be so, so try to change that perception and think to all the positive things you have in your life and try to focu on how to improve them... perception is reality... so work on that!
