I didn't say that. God did.
What do I think of Jews?
I think they're great people and they are Jews who have turned to the lord Jesus Christ as a personal Savior and, of course, in the Old Testament, He is called Messiah, so they have the label of Messianic because they are looking for the coming of Messiah in the very near future. And that's what I’ve been talking about. This ridiculous thing called replacement theology where God is through with the Jews forever. That's not so.
The bible teaches in Romans chapters 9 to 11 the Jews past, chapter 9, the Jews present, chapter 10, and the Jews future, chapter 11. And when messiah comes, chapter 11, verse 26 says: “all Israel shall be saved, for there shall come out of Zion, out of Jerusalem a deliverer who shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob”.
Who is Jacob? Jacob changed his name to Israel, 2 Kings 17:34. And when Messiah comes, He opens their blinded eyes and all Judaism, all Israel comes to Jesus Christ. I'm for the messianic Jews.
Old Testament Jews are just that. They live the old Testament Teachings. They are not believer's that accept the TRUTH that Jesus is THE CHRIST, THE MESSIAH. Old Testament Jews are waitng for the Messiah's FIRST coming. What Jews think is the FIRST coming, is actually the 2nd coming. The Rapture.
New Testament Jews, believe this. Jews WERE the chosen people, in the Old Testament. In the Old testament, Jews were the only people that could go to heaven. IT'S THE "NEW TESTAMENT JEWS" THAT ARE THE CHOSEN PEOPLE NOW. JESUS CAME TO FULFILL THE LAW OF MOSES. THE CHRISTIAN AGE STARTED ACTS.CH.2:38 THE DAY OF PENTACOST. "THE HOLY SPIRIT FELL UPON THEM". JESUS SAID: I WILL SEND "THE HELPER".
TODAY, ISRAEL IS THE "CHOSEN LAND", ONLY "SPIRITUAL JEWS" CAN INHERIT THE NEW KINGDOM. JESUS CHRIST'S FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW OF MOSES, BECAME EFFECTIVE AT ACTS.CH.2 NOW. "ALL PEOPLE" OF EVERY RACE, CAN GO T0O HEAVEN BECAUSE WE ARE ALL "SPIRITUAL JEWS THROUGH CHRIST".
ONLY "SPIRITUAL JEWS" WILL GO TO HEAVEN. THATS "ANYONE" WHO ACCEPTS JESUS CHRIST AS THEY'RE SAVIOR.
Christians are the only New Testament Jews. (Spirtual Jews) through Christ. Gal. ch.3:27-29
Note: everything is spiritual. The spiritual Jews (Christians) will inherit the New Spiritual Kingdom, through The Spiritual Christ.
This is the ONLY way , ALL people of every race, every color, every country can go to heaven.
The 144,000 is Old Testament Jews (Evangelists) that will go to heaven. ok? Don't let anyone decieve you in thinking that all Old testament Jews are saved. Thats is the BIGGEST lie ever told, my friend.

Let's deal with your mis-statement first.
"most Evangelical Christians say Jews will go to Hell"
Most don't, most won't.
I believe the tribes of Isreal will be redeemed in the last days, according to the Bible, fulfilling the Covenant that God made with them. They will not, therefore, "go to hell". I don't exactly understand it, but I take it on faith that it's true.
Secondly, your play on words doesn't wash: "Jesus was God, and Jews worship God, wouldn't they technically be worshipping Jesus in the view of Christians, and thus be saved?".
- Jesus IS God
- Jews worship God
- Jews DO NOT recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ, the redeemer, God
- therefore, these "non-recognizing" Jews do not receive the "free gift" of salvation that is offerred by God through Jesus sacrifice

While evangelical Christians believe that Jesus and God are of the same entity, they also believe that since Jesus came to earth as the son of God and gave the commission that all who would be saved would be saved through belief in Jesus, rather than just the simple belief in God, those who do not worship Jesus as the son of God are therefore defying God's will in some way.
They supposedly are lacking in their faith and, according to evangelical doctrine, are not eligible to be saved.
According to evangelical doctrine, once Jesus came to earth as the Son of God, God's chosen people became those who believed in Jesus as God's son. This in turn was supposed to revoke the original doctrine that set aside the Jews as God's "only" chosen people, eligible for salvation, and opened up the doors of salvation to the Jews as well as everyone else... if they chose to follow Jesus.

My gut reaction is purely relief and excitement that any team of human beings help Israel. Israel receives a very undesirable press. No us of a is proper, and this includes the Jewish state. yet at the same time, there are international places in this international that behave far extra badly and aggressively than Israel, without receiving a fragment of the condemnation. So when I hear everybody talking properly of Israel, i guess i'm purely chuffed! though i do not truly like it too a lot even as some - no longer all - evangelical Christians then start up waxing lyrical about how/even as/the position/why/if we Jews will be 'kept' and so on and so on and so on...

Because they have not accepted Christ's blood to wash away their sins. Christ is the Son of God..not God Himself.

Here is part of what the Apostle Paul wrote about this subject.
Romans 9:1 I am speaking the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience witnessing with me in the Holy Spirit, 2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself to be accursed from Christ on behalf of my brothers, my countrymen according to the flesh, 4 who are Israelites, of whom are the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the law-giving, and the worship, and the promises; 5 of whom are the fathers and from whom Christ came, according to the flesh, He who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. 6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all those of Israel are of Israel, 7 nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, "In Isaac your seed shall be called." 8 That is, those who are the children of the flesh, are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
Paul was grieved about the many Jews who would not acknowledge that Jesus is the promised messiah, so much so that he said that he would trade his salvation if it meant that they would receive it in his stead. He goes on about this subject in this and the next two chapters and finishes up this way.
Romans 11:5 Even so then, at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work. 7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 Just as it is written: "God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day."
As it has been throughout their history, a remnant of the Jews were being and still are being saved according to God's sovereign election until Christ comes again.
Romans 11:25 For I do not desire you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer shall come out of Zion, and He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob; 27 For this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins." 28 As regards to the gospel, they are enemies for your sake; but as regards to election, they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
Zechariah 12:8 On that day the LORD will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the LORD, going before them. 9 And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

Because they "reject" JESUS CHRIST as thier Saviour...
They must "go through HIM, to get to the FATHER"...
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
So, if they "reject" JESUS CHRIST, then they are rejecting Salvation...
I wish you well..
