Forgiveness is about someone feeling they have to let something they believe to be wrong pass. Therefore it implies one party being in the wrong and another being in the right. Acceptance is about realising that a situation exists and not casting judgment on it. So, although they can be regarded as similar terms they are two very distinct and different concepts. Therefore I think acceptance is, in alot of cases, more important, because it doesn't require judgment or putting someone in the right or wrong.

Yet another. God, I'm amazed with level of fundamental questions people can come up with. Surely appreciate your thinking direction, not sure though how serious you are with it. Let me give my 2 cents on it anyway.

a) I'm taking an step back and trying to think why would you bring both of these against each other for comparison of importance. I mean question can be answered for sake of answer but it will add more value if objective is clear. I can't think of a scenario where you will have to choose between two with hard line.

b) My view says that without having forgiveness, you can't have acceptance. Forgiving means the act of accepting a situation or outcome (that had damaging/negative impact) without expecting any compensation or apologies.

Hope that tingles your mind...:-)...and helps too.

Forgiveness because it requires people to realise there are wrongs that have to be righted. Acceptance just lets the wrong continue and does not solve situations. Also forgiveness is a concept set out by God, acceptance is a human concept.

forgiveness is more important. you can accept a lot more than you can forgive. say you were born in a war torn country, you would accept that as everyday life. now picture yourself thrown into war. not easy to forgive. the funny thing is people throw themselves into situations where they have to be forgiven on a regular basis

I guess they are the same thing in a way. If you can accept something, then you have forgiven whatever you couldnt accept before. If you can forgive something, then you can accept it. They go hand in hand.

In fact 'forgiveness' is one of the CONSEQUENCES of acceptance. It cannot be any other way, if it has to be sincere, so acceptance is more important !

There is this joke that goes:
I prayed every night for a bicycle, but received no acceptance from above.
I prayed a little more. Still nothing.
So I stole a bicycle and ask for forgiveness!

If you can't accept then no point in forgiving

i think it is.
forgiveness is commanded by god. god says father forgive them for they know not what they do.
we need to forgive so our father in heaven will forgive us.
we may or may not ever be accepted.
i can live with that whether i'm accepted or not.
but forgiveness is far more impt then acceptance.
if u don't forgive, it's a sin in god's eyes. it's a commandment given by god.
acceptance isn't.
so yes, it's far more impt to forgive.
