I just want for people to describe what they think a father is and what they should or shouldn't do.

as a single father and have custody for over 10 yrs. i believe i can answer this.......... a father is a man that takes responsibility of all his actions, whether they be good or bad, because being a father is not like being a bank president, being a father is a 24/7 job. children don't come into the world with an instruction manual, so it's a fathers position to step forward and TRY and i emphasize TRY to understand all sides of the equation. all the time remembering that's your flesh and blood, trying to always do the right thing, say the right thing, and hope and pray that it is the right thing.cause there is no second chance and no rolling back time or PAUSING life

Father: provides for his children: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. A father should be firm but not abusive.
A father should make sure his children have: food to eat, shelter from the elements, clothing, health care (doctor, dentist, vision, etc.), a good education (not just in school), unconditional love, supervision, guidance and emotional support.

A father is someone who cares deeply about his children and would do anything for them. For me, it involves much more than that. It's one thing to "bring home the bacon" but it's another to show love towards your children whether it's through words or actions. Some fathers (esp. with daughters) just don't realise how much their kids are affected by everything they say or do. My best friend is anorexic and hasn't eaten in front of her father since she was a kid (I assume b/c of comments he made). I think it's important for fathers to really learn about parenting, not everything comes naturally.

A father is someone who gives you guidance. He picks you up when you are down, he gives advice so you don't have to commit mistakes, he provides to his best ability a safe environment which can nurture your growth physically and emotionally. He is the rock which you lean on who gives unconditional love...He does this with the kindness of his heart with no expectations of anything in return.

A father is someone realted by blood and should be there for you...theres a differnce betweet a father and a dad..a dad is allways there, baseball games, first daces, first dates, first cars and everything..a father could just mean hes legally realted to you..dads are better lol

A father is the male figure you grow up with, feel comfortable with, is there for you, and either you do consider, or wouldn't mind considering ur father.

i dont need dictionary to describe my father. a father is a person who is there for you forever.....he is the person who ll take your troubles on him....he is the person who ll advice you, guide you, scold you when you are wrong even thras you for being a bad girl.... hes a person who ll support you for your rights as well as your wrongs.....
i have lost my father to cancer last year, so i know how precious fathers are....god bless them

a father is a man that will protect and raise a child and care for one no matter if it is his own flesh and blood or his wifes child from a previous relationship i have found a man to take care of me and my child
