You get an F-1 exactly the way you got your J-1; gather the correct documents (in this case, an I-20 form) and apply at the US embassy or consulate nearest your home overseas.

apply to a university. I think they will give u a I-10 document after admission. Then u are under F1 visa. U need to go to your home country to get this stamped on passport.
