I got my first boil last November. Since them I've gotten about five more. One again in November and then four others came along when the summer started up.

I currently have four still on me now. I don't like using anti-biotics because I don't feel they do anything, nor do I feel that they're good for my body.

My question is, should I be worried about getting these boils? Is it a huge deal, or is it JUST a boil? Why do I keep getting them? Am I not eating good, because I do exercise everyday and I am pretty fit. Are boils caused from mal-nutrition? Should I just let them heal on their own? I mean, would it hurt if I just left them? Because I don't like dealing with them, they are bothersome. I'm getting most of them around where my pants sit on my waist, could it have something to do with my pants?

Sorry, just getting a little worried, I guess!! (Oh yeah, I'm not going to the docs., so please don't suggest that! All I need is answers! Thanks!)

Hi I was reading your question and I to get them I have for 14 yrs the dermotoligists I went to told me it is either from an ingrown hair or it is in herited,I have been using this one soap that has tea tree oil in it and it is doing pretty good.when I do get one I usually use neosporin and tape it up and also will take a hot wash cloth and put on there...it really isnt a big deal, but if it gets to big then I would go to your doctor or the ER and get it lanced,I also had surgery about a year ago under my arm to try to help it...I still get them but not as bad..I hope this help a little

I saw patients with boils and i know it hurts a lot. These are bacterial lesions and they tend to spread if not treated right . As mentioned, these contain bacteria so they have to be removed ( pus inside) coz if not they tend to circulate (that is making it spread to other parts of your body) that is why oral antibiotics are required. Some people I know just pop out the pus inside then do the usual cleaning of wound but that hurts a lot. I'm not sure if you can tolerate it but having 4 boils is already alarming. Hope this helps.

Boils are skin infections usually caused by bacteria. It produces painful inflammation and pus that can cause scarring. Best way to treat it would be through oral antibiotics. yours is pretty widespread. it could get worse. if you dont like doctors, go to a nurse. less intimidating, i guess. the point here is, you need professional help.

Use an antibacterial soap. Usually boils are no big deal(for someone overweight who sweats alot), just bothersome, but if you are fit and you get them frequently, you could have MRSA and that cannot be cleared up without going on antibiotics.

from what I understand staff germs cause boils, and can spread, be contagious.
I would put hot towels on them to bring them to a head, pierce with a sterilized needle and allow to drain, keeping the area clean and covered with gauze. then put alcohol on the area to dry it up, this will burn!
but if you don' t care... just leave em alone. hope you don't get more. they are yukky

cut a piece of potato and tape, gauze wrap or something the potato to hte boil, that will help bring it to a head faster where you can pop it and be done with it.

I'd use triple-antibiotic ointment on them once they are popped, like neosporin or neosporin plus pain..
