Because it varies from person affected to person affected. You can't do much for them until they're ready for it. You can't force it on them. Just try to make them aware, but I'll warn you right now...if they're in denial of their problem, you could just get them mad at you.

One of the most prominent symptoms in Bipolar Disorder is mood swings. Not just feeling blue/happy, but major, freakish, out of the blue kinds of mood swings. Depending on the age of the individual, you might see at the peak of happiness, extreme energy and inability to focus on simple day to day activities/responsibilities. At the other end of the spectrum is an extreme sadness that can lead to injury to themselves or others.

You should discuss this with a trusted adult. There is help for dealing with bipolar family members.

bi polar is nothing more than a crock of crap to make doctors and drug co.money.I know people who have no problems what so ever that get the Meds. by saying things like,'they crave sex more on certain nights, and they somnetimes scream at other people or they feel better one day than they did the day before,or they have more energy than they should.Hell my bro got it for going in and telling the doctor that his parents were mean to him as a kid and it always bothered him.sh it the real drug problem in this country is with the drugs they call legal.

its not tough to understand. most bipolar people have two states. one high and one low. when they feel high, or manic, they do crazy things: spend money they don't have, have wild sex, clean the house from top to bottom, work out way too much... just very high energy things that are seemingly in excess. the other state is depression... they may want to kill themself or just sleep all day. think of it like yo-yo.... sometimes up and sometimes down. not very much time inbetween.
