You have to do it a little at a time. The cat has to get used to the clippers and realize they're not going to hurt it, so make sure you don't hurt it. Start with areas on the back, toward the rear, and work your way up towards its head. That will help to get it used to the sound of the clippers. Then you can start doing the underside and legs. Remember to give the cat breaks, because no matter what you do, and how used to the clippers it gets, it won't want to stay still long, although you'll find it will stay still longer and longer between breaks.

I had the same situation. Wait until the cat is relaxed then just start to shave the spot(s) slowly and try to keep it relaxed like pet him and if he starts to get pissed then let them walk away and cool off 4 a few minutes then start over again, I have a long hair and it took 3 days to shave him!

-_-lll
If a person tries to shave u, do u think u will stand still? Why u want to shave your cat? Does its hair over-grown or what?
If no big prob, just leave him/her alone. Cats can clean and manage itself better than u do

You should be pinned down and shaved for torturing an innocent cat.

i tried that once but i don't think you can do a good job if you don't make them go to sleep first. I tryed one time when my cat was awake and i have three long scratches on my right shoulder and they left a scar. So i guess put them to sleep and then do it then wait till they wake up!

i wouldn't shave a cat. they actually need their fur. if it is unusually dirty or mangy looking, take it to a professional pet groomer. otherwise, leave the poor thing alone!
