If you need a car for regulare use such as work etc, then you need one with good fuel consumption so check on that. I don't know what you mean by weekend use. Do you have a large family? Are you single? That may also help you decide between a saloon, coupe or estate.

It really depends on what use you want to put the car to

If you got some money why don't you just use normal car or if you just have fixed budget and not so often going out. . just use weekend car.

For info, weekend car is a car which cannot drive between 7am-7pm unless you have $20 coupon for the the journey. Or you will be chased by Traffic Police and summoned. Saturday can drive between 3pm-7am. Sunday u can drive one whole day. Holidays like Hari Raya, chinese new year, and so on you permitted to drive any time too.

And the cost of the car and the normal car is different. It more cheaper than normal car.

Normal car is a normal car which doesn't have any procudure to drive on road. Anytime you can drive. . .

getting a car in singapore means u must hav the money to spend..can u afford it..how often do u think u need the car..if u were to calculate taking a cab to work everyday to n fro n if it is still cheaper then paying for the car etc then better not..
if ur usage is not much get a weekend car but tats also not convenient cos u can only drive out the car at certain times n other then those times ur coupon cost u 20 dollars or so i think...
Its really up to u though..see how much u can afford a month to maintain a car ...
All the best...

Generally, it is expensive to own a car in Singapore. To make it worth and fully utilised, I suggest you get a "NORMAL" car. You are not restricted by any time to use the car, having pay the same parking rate, maintenance and fuel. Only, start with a cheaper car price and rebates on road tax. Think about it.

First of all how often will you be using the car. if you need it for work, it would be ideal to get a normal car. if you just need it to drive around, I suggest you can consider getting a weekend car.

Just FYI to Other People, a "weekend" car refers to a "Sports Car" of sorts. Something like a Viper. something you don't drive often or only on the "Weekend"

For the OP I think that its your decision on what to get. Are you using this car to go to and from work?
it all depends on what you want to use it for.

Since 1995, weekend car had changed to "off-peak" car. Currently "off-peak" car give a rebate of $17,000. A few factors to decide on, budget, habit of driving, usuage and etc...however, if you looking for a smaller car, then "off-peak" car is a good deal. For example, Kia 1.1cc cost about $34,000, with the rebate of $17,000, it cost only about $17,000....good deal for a new car! But if you are looking for a Europe luxury car, then forget it.
