Catholic children in the U.S. usually receive First Communion in the second grade after two years of instruction.
This is the age that most children learn the difference between right and wrong.
Talk to your parish's Director of Religious Education for more information and to ask about your daughter's special needs.
With love in Christ.

In the Roman Catholic Church the child will have to take classes before her first communion. I had mine between 1 and 2 grade and yes I needed to talk as I had to go to confession. Talk with your local priest and he can help you.

She will be 7ish and she will take classes through the church, ccd, and she will learn WHY she is taking communion, she will make her first confession, and she will have a lovely new dress and her family will come to the church and then to the house for a lovely reception, where she will be wished love and congratulations and it will be wonderful. Then she will in a few years get ready for confirmation

um.. usually children go through their 1st communion in 2-3 grade. it doesnt seem like you know much about your own religion. you have to look for a way to become more educated, there is a lot more to church then just taking communion. you daughter needs to get into a catholic school or a ccd class to learn about her religion, she just cant take a small class to be able to take communion.

She needs to celebrate her First Communion, I believe, which is usually around the age of 7.

It varies, but most churches require her to be baptized and many parents wait until the child can fully understand the meaning.
