I mean more like, laughing when stubbing a toe, or getting socked in the arm, or knocking your head on something -- stuff that makes most people say, "OW!!"

it's called defense mechanism. it's an adoptive way to cope up with anxiety/stress..
laughing instead of crying while suffering pain is an example of Reaction Formation it's a type of defense mech which one expresses the opposite of what one's real feeling..
i guess it's normal cause both mentally heathy and ill individuals use this kinda thing..

I do this sometimes. It's more of a laugh/cry of pain combo. It usually only happens if I hit my elbow or knee.. the funny bones. Weird thing isn't it?

Laughter is often a stress reliever and crying when you hurt just makes you hurt worse. Laughter releases "feel good" substances into your body and can actually relieve pain and stress.

nervous laughter..happens to me a lot. the girl i like comes around, starts hitting on my friends, and it's like i want to laugh as if everythings ok...then when i get home things get bad.

it's a nervous reaction....laughing & crying are similar; sometimes people start to cry when they are laughing...

idk its like when you fall down the stairs and everyone laffs at you and you just laff out loud even though your in alot of pain showing that people won't laff at you for being a total ditz.lol i saw it on an ellen degenras sketch it was really funny.
