I honestly believe we are still in Iraq, because if we were to leave now what would it say for all the time we have been there and for all our fallen soldiers. As much as i would love to say i agree with you i am torn. coming from a Army wife who's husband has deployed twice and has lost many friends and brothers. And I know that we could be there forever and nothing will probably change there. We have started something that is never going to end.I dont ever see our Military coming home. maybe having less there but we will always have some military there simply for the facter that President Bush wants it that way.

The infighting between the two major muslim groups - the two controling parties - is still too great to make any reduction in forces. If the US leaves, there would be a huge civil war and Iran would probably try to take over.
Thinking this is over oil is an ignorant sideswipe at geopolitical processes.
Saddam rewrote his own peace treaty too many times for that to continue..
He lied so often, kept some much other information secret, that it was difficult to tell just how sorry their infrastructure was...
if you remember, even as smoke billowed in the background, their information minister held firm to the claim that Americans were not at the airport and could not be there...and we all knew they were.
So we're their attempting to keep peace between two factions, restoring what was destroyed, adding what they've never had, and caring for people as well...and it's still a war against terrorism and against terrorists.

While everybody is distracted (rightly so) by the Israel attack on the Lebanese, Bush has rather stealthily sent MORE troops to Iraq. The puppet masters in the Bush Administration are masters of Red Herring tactics. One thing after another . Terror Alert, Gay marriage, Terror ALERT, illegal aliens, Terror Alert, Stem Cell Research, Terror Alert, Israel ,& Hezbullah fighting. Every time there is a smoke screen needed, believe me, if one doesn't occur, the Admistration will create one. As of this week (July 2O-23) more U.S. Troops have been quietly deployed to Iraq.
America need a wake up call! Keep your eye on the ball!

The US Army is still in Iraq to protect the government that was established thereat. They want the oppositionists under control so that the government will succeed. Nevertheless, they should leave already considering that the Iraqi government was already in place.

they are there until the IRAQ military can take care of themselves. If we left now then terrorist groups would slowly build back up and take control again. Then they would bring the war to the States and blow you up while you're sitting in a Starbucks. how would you like that? I say its better to take the war to their ground instead of having them come here. We could stay there forever if that is what it takes. The guys in the army know what they are there for and they are proud of it. I am proud of them too. why aren't you?

Job is not yet done.
For those of you who said Bush, you fail American Government. Congress declares war, not the President.
They all had the same information at the same time and voted for this.
Thank you very much

That is a very well thought out analysis. I am sure you gave careful thought to all the possible ramifications of pulling out immediately.
Alternatively: Why are car bombers killing innocent civilians day-in and day-out?
For those who believe the troops are there for oil:
Could you be any more mis-guided and ill-informed? You embarrass yourselves.

where else should they put them. And i agree with the guy how said Pride.
That reminded me of a saying: Temper is what puts you in problems, and Pride is what keeps you there.
