No question...if you want to bulk up, go with the free weights.
High weight/low reps (example bench press 150-200 lbs, three sets of ten, 2-3 times a week) will produce higher muscle mass.
Low weight/high reps (example 100 pushups every day) will produce a thinner build, but probably more definition.

Well if you can lift free weights more than your body weight then free weights... a push up is like lifting your weight (minus a substantial amount of weight because its not exact focused weight) so it depends on how strong you are... you can only do push ups for so long... You will plateu in muscle mass eventually and you'll need to work your arms in a different way regardless

if you want to build muscle mass, you may want to use free weights to build power. Doing Pushups may just make you in shape but not necessarily stronger and more muscular. Free weights are better for power and equilibrium, machines are better for body shape.
