Would you let you kids attend one?

My schools didn't have corporal punishment per se, but if I got sent home with a note, or the principal called my mom, I got it at home. But I was spanked at school once, my mom got called because I was rude to a teacher (a nun), my mom spanked me right then and there. I never smarted off to a teacher again after that.

I don't have any children but I probably would prefer to make any decisions about corporal punishment at home rather than have the school do it.

Ok, I have heard that term a thousand times, but for the life of me, my mind went totally blank. I think it means spanking, right? Well I hope so. I did get spanked in school when I was in second grade, but not only was that bad, but they took you in the third grade classroom with everyone while they did it. My friends and I were just talking about this the other night. And NO I would not let my kids attend anything like that.

Yes, I attended a school that used corporal punishment. Would I let my kids attend a school that used corporal punishment? Let me put it to you this way: I THINK ANY SCHOOL THAT DOESN'T USE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!!

Yes I did and yes I recieved it. Yes I would let my kids attend, but no they would not be allowed to spank my child. I was spanked in HIGH SCHOOL (1999) by the principal, but had to get my parents permission first. My mom said it was my decision and I chose the licks. ( I had a choice of 2 licks or Saturday School). Had I known how hard I would have been hit, i would have chose no and so would my mother. They left big bruises on my butt!!! My parents whipped me as a child, but like my mom said, "If I had been hit by my parents that hard, I would have been taken away from them"!! They hit me waaaay too hard, but who is to say HOW hard. I think I should have requested my parent BE THERE- I think they wouldn't have whipped me so hard. I did have to have a lady present though. It was really F'ed up- but what can you expect from a small town country school???

Yes and Yes. I teach at a school that uses corporal punishment. I believe it is a good option, especially when all else has failed. Sometimes it is the only thing that works.

Yes, I attended one in elementary school (and it was a public school!). No, I would never let my kids attend a place where physical violence was used as discipline.

yes, i remember getting hacks often. I would definately have no problem allowing my kid to attend one. Diferent types of punishment work on different types of children. All options should be open.

Yes I did for a short amount of time (like 3 mos.)
There is paperwork that you can fill out to not permit corpal punishment used on your children.
I wouldn't allow someone to hit my child with a wooden paddle. If someone did, I'd beat the sh1t out of them with it.
