Power walking is actually better for you than running. With power walking you are swinging your arms as your walking, where as with running you are holding your arms close to your sides and not moving them much. Power walking is a great calorie burner as long as you put forth a good amount of energy. You'll see better results with power walking than you will with jogging.

Losing body fat can be done by drinking lots of water and eating smaller portions. Cut out the ice-cream, drink low-fat milk, eat lots of fruits and veggies. Do some strength and toning exercises to help burn fat and build some muscle.

The reason many Americans are overweight is because we eat very large portions. Our dinner plates are much larger than they used to be, check out the size of a dinner plate made in 1950 verses one made in 2006 and you will see what I'm talking about. So when it's time to eat, perhaps measuring your portions would work better for you.

Here's a website that has some great information about power walking. It talks about getting the proper walking shoes and why, how to walk and land properly on your feet, short strides vs long strides as well as many other tips.

No because power walking is less of an aerobic exercise. If you don't want to jog walking is still pretty good though. There are also something called "Nordic Walking" . People have been doing this in Scandinavia for decades. But it's getting popular in the USA now. Here is a link : http://www.nordicwalking.com
Cross country skiers started this. Off season they often run with ski poles (or roller ski) so they they can use their arms as if they where skiing.

Just jog in position or you can do some aerobics inside your residence, that would be enjoyable. You don't want a treadmill, simply jog in a single situation inside the enough time your body is used to.

i believe i've read somewhere that power walking actually burns more calories than jogging when it's done right. you have to keep a good pace. i, personally, prefer jogging, but i've found that i progress better when i added light weight training to my workout on alternate days. good luck

Power walking is the best for me, it;s better on your knees and I get the same workout as running, just remember to keep your arms bended and swing them so you work your back too, and don't forget the music.
Eat a lot of fruit instead of junk food and don't ever fill your plate twice, just once is more than enough remeber to drink plenty of water too! good luck
