I just got a letter in the mail saying that my federal financial aid was rejected due to academic ineligibility. I was awarded the money for the fall a few months ago and was just about to register for classes. This just came out of nowhere and I have no idea what is going on. They said that I could appeal it. I've had a few withdrawls over the last 2 years, but A's and B's otherwise. Before, my academic record is a bit checkered and I've been at a number of different community colleges. Finally, after I got to a 4 year and was about to go to school full time, they drop my aid! Anyone have any ideas what is going on? Can I look up academic standards anywhere? Who can I fight/yell at/kill? I'm really really really frustrated.

The withdrawn of title IV aid (federal money i.e. Pell Grant, Loans) shouldn't follow you where you go. 1st try to appeal it. I know with where I work we are pretty good with approving 1st time appeals. If that doesn't work, you can always look into going to another 4 year institution. Just when you do your appeal they are going to ask you why you were withdrawing from classes. Just provide any kind of proof possible. If you have any more ?'s, ask me!

I went to college for 3 years solely on financial aid. As a matter of fact, I prolonged getting married because I knew they would kick me if I had to include my mate's income. I was however, put on financial aid probation twice because I withdrew from one Sociology class and one Math class. I had to complete them (at some point) and not withdrawl anymore in order to not get kicked off. I completed the Soc. class with a better teacher, and I completed the Math class at an upper level. I also had to maintain my 3.9 GPA. This was in Nevada; not sure how the rules are where you are. I would contact the board, or even your advisor to see what you can do. You may have to make up the classes that you withdrew from. You can also apply for loans and scholarships if available. It is worth the try. Best of luck....I know that it can be frustrating to try to further your education and it seems that (they) make it sooooooo hard.

contact your finacial aid advisor at the school where u were accepted adn your acedemic advisor they should have information for yo and how you can get your aid back.
